I use max scoop as well. It doesnt  smell really bad for me if it is for you  then its probably your cats poop or urine that is making it that way.

I have used so many types of litter. Now what I use isn’t technically litter at all lol. I use wood pellets meant for a pellet stove. They are made of compressed hardwood dust and nothing else. There is literally no odor at all. None. It cost me $4.50 for a 50  lb bag from Lowe’s but Walmart and Home Depot carries them as well. Any brand will do.

As an added perk, the pellets dont stick to paws so the litter box isn’t surrounded by stray litter.

@sweetchiquita12:  I use Nature’s Miracle crystal litter. It’s expensive ($12 a bag unless it’s on sale) but it lasts our one cat 10-14 days and it completely absorbs smells (except for right after a #2, nothing is perfect). It dehydrates the poop really quickly so when you scoop, everything is already dry. And it absorbs urine entirely so there’s no clumps of pee to scoop out. We have it in a small utility closet off our small kitchen in our small apartment and no oder problems whatsoever.

I’ve used a few other brands (Precious Cat and ScoopFree) of the same kind of litter and they were okay too, but there’s one brand that has larger crystals that didn’t work AT ALL so now we stick to the Nature’s Miracle that we know for sure works.

@coolcalmcollected:  WHAT?! That’s a thing you can do!?! I’ve been paying through the nose for cat litter and I could just use that!!?? Home Depot, here I come!!

OP I use Arm& Hammer Super Scoop *Frangrance Free* It’s got a dark blue label on it. Anything scented is just horrendous, I have to make sure I get something with absolutely no fragrance.

I tried an all natural one by Blue Buffalo a while ago. It had like nut shavings or something. Didn’t smell like kitty poo but my cats hated it so much they dumped over their litter box…twice.

@taylorkirby:  YES! I am never, ever, ever buying cat litter again. You will be amazed how well it holds the scent. It works better than anything else I’ve ever tried. Also, not having to sweep up litter around the box is a huge perk too. You’ll love it. Just make sure you stock up to get through the off-season because they don’t carry pellets year round. I have a few bags piled in the garage.

@sweetchiquita12:  We use the green maxx scoop as well and really like it.  And that’s even after having to move the litter box up into my office after our old cat refused to go down into the basement.  I know that the family I adopted her from suggested we keep her on a certain brand of food because they found that depending on the type of food she ate, her litter box would end up really smelly.

@coolcalmcollected:  Huh that is so interesting!!! I have never heard of using that before!!! Does it clump at all? I have 3 cats so I scoop 2x a day and empty it totally 1x a week.

I use superstore’s no name brand. I’ve used both the clumping and non clumping and I find they both hide the smell really well. It’s about $7 for a 10kg bag, and maybe $8-9 for the 20 kg. (Although I don’t fully remember).
