I would really appreciate your help! I am getting married in France and will only need my dress for the cocktail/reception/dancing and not ceremony. And given that my soon-to-be French family and friends are very laid back and non-traditional, I decided not to spend too much $$ on a bridal dress. I am trying to find a good bridesmaid dress that will have a bridal form. I have attached a picture of me so you have an idea of my body type – I like to wear A line as I am rather heavy on the bottom! In any case, if any of you have come across any bridesmaids dresses you think would work well as a bridal dress (may be with some extra tailoring – addition of lace or beading detail), please let me know! I am very new to the bridal fashion world and don’t know many designers/websites to look.
I started off looking at Alvina Valenta, since another forum here said their bridesmaids dress from Alvina could have been a bridal if in a different color –
(without the string)
Please don’t limit your recommendations to these as I am not stuck on these – this is where I have started my search!

Even though they are laid back I still think you should wear the fanciest, I like the second but to be honest I think you should find like a mermaid style wedding dress you are the bride!
I liked enzoani dakota dress, I saw a celeb wear it on the red carpet in black.

I was just looking at Lela Rose dresses…I like a bridesmaids dress as a rehearsal dinner dress, but I think they could work as a bridal dress if you’re going for a less traditional, more laid-back look!

I’m not sure what your budget is, but I love Thread – some of their bridesmaids styles are also marketed as bridal alternative: http://bridal.threaddesign.com/collections/?id=94

I’m right there with you–I’m doing a vow renewal next year, and am going to use a bridesmaid dress for the ceremony. We’re in luck because many of them now come in ivory. I loved these new Alvina Valenta ones in particular:
Depending on the dress, you can also wear a birdcage veil or a glittery headband. Hope this helped–
