sleep in, read the paper, hang out. if he's w/ his buddies, he'll find something to do.
Our boys went swimming until about 30 minutes before picture time. I heard that some of them even shaved in the river. Ewww! I think they were also enjoying a few cocktails.
I know that what we're doing is not very common but I think they will have a great time! While the bridal party and mom's are getting ready with me, all of the groomsmen, dad's and a bunch of Mr. Librarian's army buddies are going to my dad's rod and gun club. They are going to have shooting contests (don't ask me, I'm not into the gun or hunting thing) and then have a big lunch at the club. They'll get back to the Inn just in time to shower and get dressed for the wedding! While I would assume most of your FI's will not be off shooting weapons the day of (gotta love the army) there is probably something they (dads, groomsmen, friends) can do to blow off some steam together! Maybe set up something silly like a flag football game, bridal party vs. friends or something? Just a thought!
My husband and all the guys in our family went out to breakfast and then set up the reception. Can they go to a beach or rent a boat? What about video games? Is there something they love to do together that is more laid-back or relaxing? That's what I would suggest.
I can't tell you how many photos I've seen of the groom and his guys playing XBox until about 30 minutes before the wedding.
Is there an activity that your FI and his buddies love but don't ever have time for?
I think mine are going to go to lunch and hang out at Jillian's. (Is that only an Upstate NY thing? It's like a bar and grill that has video games, sports, etc.)
Boys love video games! I imagine my fiance will be doing that with his groomsmen the day of.
Just tell them to hang out. Perhaps find a nice upscale sports bar in town they can all go to lunch to & hang out - invite only sort of lunch, etc.
My FH has a stag's golf game planned for the night before with all his out of town buddies.
Mr. CurlyQ is taking the Best Man & Groomsman to a Barber Lounge for a fancy shave as part of their gift. (Picture leather furniture, cigars and cocktails.)
I would be afraid of them doing an outdoor activity and showing up sunburnt looking like raccoons. ;)
My husband got a hair cut (and a style included, thank god - you'd understand if you saw his hair) and then spent the rest of the pre-ceremony time tying bowties and pining boutonnieres. We had a first look and pre-ceremony photos too :-)
Our guys just ordered pizza and drank beer by the hotel pool. Must have been nice. Me & the girls got up bright and early at 8 am to get our hair done!!!
my (now) husband and the rest of the boys took a surf lesson - we did have a destination wedding in Hawaii though.
OMG, my fiance is always so slow at getting ready for things. Like if we're going out at night, it takes him at least twice as long as me to get ready, so we're always late to things. I have no idea what he and his groomsmen will decide to do the morning of the wedding... (maybe golf?) but if he isn't dressed and on the alter on time, I might just have a teeny tiny meltdown.
My husband & our fathers went out for a fancy shave at a barbershop.
Count my hubs as part of the "barber" group. He took his guys to get fancy shaves at a nice, upscale barber. His guys are NOT that big into the pampering stuff, but in the end, they said it was really cool, and they all looked great for the pictures.
They also played golf that morning (got up super early). But, if the guys didn't want to play golf, his second choice was video games:)
The boys all went out to lunch & drank beers; it was just a fun time for them to be together!
Get a hair cut, see a movie, go to lunch, play video games, drink beer/cocktails, hang out, shoot the sh**, go shooting, go swimming, rent a boat, test drive cars(?), help with set up for heavier things, relax and watch TV......your men will figure something out! And Im pretty sure most men are content with sitting around drinking and doing nothing but eating haha
My hubby and his friends played BASKETBALL all morning. They had a great time and it was a wonderful way for my hubby to burn off those nervous jitters. Some of the guys were feeling it during the wedding - they hadn't played in a long time! But my hubby plays all the time so it was perfect for him.
But we always say, it was a great idea because no one got hurt. If someone had, we would probably be singing a different tune. :)
Our boys are going salmon fishing the morning of! There's not much more relaxing than throwing a few casts on a nice summers day.
Plus there's not much to do in the town where we are getting married (900 people in the entire town, so no barbers or bars). There's a 9 hole golf course, so they may play a round there as well.
I think our guys will be off playing golf.. I'll just make sure they all have sunscreen! ;)

We'll have a late afternoon July ceremony, pictures separate for the bride and groom before hand and then pictures together afterwards.
None of the boys golf or gamble. Any ideas?
