i didn’t at first, but then when i was trying to decide where to buy my dress from – because several stores carried Maggie Sottero, I read the reviews. one store in particular, even before i visited them, i read the reviews and they were awful. awful but consistent. so when i went, i had found it helpful because i wasn’t thrown off by their behavior and even managed to take a picture of the dress i liked! (ALL the reviews said they were not allowed to take pics).

and as for where i bought my dress, i chose the store based on the reviews AND how i felt in the store and the vibe i got.  bad reviews that deterred me from ordering at some store was how wishy washy the store was about when the dress was coming in, when and how the alterations could be done. other things too. basically in the end i went with the store where everyone consistently said they had a positive experience.

Yes, I’ve been reading reviews of stores before visiting them… and I am going to be posting reviews about the stores I visit…

The following three have been extraordinarily great experiences for me…they have let me make and appointment and had a room ready with a bra and the dresses I asked for when I arrived, they helped me try on each dress and let me take pictures, and they pulled more dresses for me as I decided what styles I liked or not. I HIGHLY recommend these places:

Jay’s Bridal in Gainesville, FL  http://www.jaysbridal.com THE BEST!!!!

Lily’s Bridal in Orlando, FL http://www.lilysbridal.com  VERY HELPFUL & KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT ALTERATIONS

Modern Bridal in Orlando, FL http://www.modernbridalshop.com GREAT SELECTION AT GOOD PRICES

I had terrible experiences at the following:

Bridal Shop at the Avenues in Jacksonville, FL http://www.bridalshopavenues.com/ They made me wait for a dressing room even though I made an appt. They didn’t pull the dresses I had called about and didn’t have some they said they had when I called. They stuck me in a dressing room by myself, did not help me. There was only one mirror for about three brides at a time. Worst of all, they wouldn’t let us take pictures to help make the decision. AVOID!!

Solutions Bridal Gainesville, FL & Orlando, FL http://www.solutionsbridal.com They were nice but they were strange…the dresses started at $2000 and then you have to add accessories to give it any sparkle. They helped a lot in trying things on, but almost too much…they totally controlled everything and wouldn’t let my mom come in the dressing room with me and didn’t let us take pictures. Too snobby for my style.

I read the reviews before I went. One of the places I went to had horrible customer service reviews, but all the sales ladies were really sweet to me. I probably wouldn’t have gone if the reviews would have been about getting the dresses in on time or something more vital, though.

The shop I got my dress at had awesome reviews about their selection and service, which they totally deserve :).
