I look at the diy projects...I'm always looking for new ideas! For some reason, I also always look at centerpieces.
I love the people, especially first look shots or unique pictures of the bridal party.
The ones that really get me are the ones with bright pops of color, a beautiful dress and desserts.
I do notice a lot of the details if they are colorful and displayed nicely and not just blah. Like escort cards I LOVE seeing new creative ways to display them but if they are just white folded pieces of paper my eye skips right over that.
Im kinda split on DIY projects. Some I LOVE LOVE and others I dont like at all. This might sound kinda bad but I can't stand the DIY projects that look worse then if a 5 year old put it together. But I can get enough of the DIY that looks like the pros did it.
I love looking at how the photographer captures the whole "vibe" of the wedding... I'm a big photography fan though.
After that, I love looking at all the little extras and decor, to help get ideas.
I love the bright pops of color. I'm always looking for inspiration for my wedding. I know as a guest I hardly notice stuff. But then, I haven't been to that many weddings yet. I love the details more than the faces actually.
I always notice the people, their smiles, how joyful they look. I'll sometimes notice flowers, but always notice the smiles.
I love the little details - the DIY stuff, charms in the bouquet, the shoes, the escort cards, candy buffets, monograms, etc. But that's b/c I LOVED doing that stuff during my wedding. When I see flower girls with pomanders, I always wondering if the bride made them or paid a florist to do it!
My favorites are the ones of the bride walking down the aisle and the look on the groom's face when he first sees her, no matter where it is.
I am also always interested in the centerpieces and the overall look of the venue. I hardly notice any of the DIY things unless they are someting I've never seen before. I also like seeing faded out pictures of the people surrounding whatever's going on for some odd reason. Those look so natural and really best capture that moment.

I've been thinking about this lately...I don't usually read blogs but the links that I see here and occasionally click on, as well most "real wedding" articles and photos I come across, focus on things I would've never even thought about becoming a bride. Candy buffets, paper lanterns, bright colored shoes, million different ways of displaying escort cards, all sorts of hand-crafted knick knacks, people holding up quirky hand painted signs...I'm not a very girly girl and don't have an artsy bone in my head, and I'll admit most of these fly right over my head. Most of the weddings I've been to have been pretty standard, classic affairs, so some of the stuff I look at in these recaps almost seems to me like an arts and crafts fair rather than a wedding. I don't mean that in a bad way at all, it all looks pretty, but I guess a little too many details for my inner Neanderthal. I mostly see an explosion of color that look pretty but a bit overwhelming and I skip past it all till I see something that interests me and is visually easy for me to process. Namely... the venue and the bride. I admit I'll pay most attention to the ones where there's a gorgeous bride in a beautiful dress. The only other thing that I find really interesting to look at is a stunning venue; like a majestic church, a romantic landscape or awe-inspiring architecture.
As a guest, I am even less observant. I couldn't even tell you the color schemes of any of the weddings I've been to. I only remember the music, the food, if I had fun and if something bad or tacky happened.
So I was just curious, what do you find most interesting to look at when you look at wedding photos? Do you pay attention to and admire all the creative DIY stuff? Do you look at something in particular, like the cake or the flowers? Or are you superficial like me and just like to look at pretty places and people? :)
