We’re not doing a cake stand under our cake, but rather a simple metallic board provided by the baker. Trouble is, I’m not sure if a gold or silver board would coordinate better with the rest of our decor.
Here are a couple photos of each option from the baker’s website:
Our cake will be simple white buttercream decorated with flowers in our wedding colors (orange, peach, sage). The table linens are ivory, and the venue is very rustic (think log cabin with giant stone fireplace — that might actually be it in the second photo, come to think of it). Inspiration pics for cake style and floral palette are below.

@brlabrat: I voted silver, but I can go either way. I love your color scheme!

@brlabrat: I voted silver as I think it’s more neutral than gold so will go with more colours. I also love your color scheme.

You really could get away with either. Silver goes well with most colors but since you are having a fall affair gold would be warm just like your color scheme. Does your venue have gold or silver in the room? If so I would just pick whatever they have ( silver chairs, silver chandeliers… etc).

Thanks so much for the help, all! I think we’ve decided to go with silver, on the basis that it is more neutral as you guys had suggested. The venue is pretty straight-up rustic, with very little in the way of metallic elements that I can take cues from, but I think silver might be our best bet.
Thanks again! 🙂
