So with the help of an angel-of-a-bee, I will be getting my BMs some fabulous robes (personalized with monograms, of course!) as part of their gift and to get ready in on the day!
I originally thought there were only two shades available~
Or “Pink Coral”
but I just discovered these Navy Blue & White polka dot too~
We are having a nautical wedding and so the Navy Blue & White totally fit…
but I dunno… for some reason they seem a little masculine to me.
Soooo here’s the choices-
a) Get the “Coral” – Its CORAL after all and is totally still nautical while still being pretty and girly! Your BMs will love the double meaning/color!
b) Get the “Pink Coral” – Its practically hot pink and is always appealing because it is bright and fun! What girl doesn’t love hot pink?!
c) Get the “Navy/White Polkadots” – It’s 100% your theme and is a little more original with the color combo and all.
I like them all, but want to personalize & be original with the gift as much as possible too! Maybe I could get some champagne colored ribbon for the sash on the Navy & White one?
Idk I’m just afraid the girls might not enjoy them as much because they’re similar to many men’s robes that come in Navy and for that reason, they might prefer the pink?
A penny for your thoughts, bees…
Which one would YOU enjoy as a BM?

I would prefer the navy ones for sure! I think they’re super cute with the polka dots and is something I would wear again more than either of the corals.

Despite the fact the navy and polka dot works with your theme I prefer the Coral. It still matches but it doesn’t go overboard with the matchy matchy stuff(do your Bridesmaid or Best Man robes really need to match your wedding theme?) and they are more likely to wear it later.
I also think the navy and polka dot looks a little manly. Not sure why. The coral is very light, pretty, and feminine.

@thewheelsonthebus: ah thank you for your honesty! What do you think about the champagne ribbon? Think that might add some fun?
@SweetHoneyBee: lol yes, I do love our theme and can admittedly go OTT sometimes, but if its not going to be something the girls enjoy long after our wedding day ends… that’s not the point. I’d love to see them in the robes the next morning at the hotel breakfast! haha
I can see what you mean about the manlyness of the navy… do you think it might help if I add the sash or do you think it will more become something TOO matchy to the wedding, like a costume? I wouldn’t want the girls to ONLY use it for the wedding because it matched the wedding but it could be cute to have them think of the wedding when they wear it… but won’t they do that anyway with any of the colors? hmmm….

@KimmySumShuga: It may just be the picture. I mean usually polka dot is pretty girly lol
Are you wanting to surprise them with the robes? If not I would just ask them which color they like best.
If you are going to be giving them as a surprise gift you could always say “Hey I was looking at these cute robes but Idk which one I like more.” Then let them choose which one they think looks best and go from there.
If I had a choice between the navy one as is and the navy with added sashes I would just go with the navy as is. Keep it simple and sweet. Could you do a super swirly, feminine font for the monograms? Or could a small, simple flower or swirly design be stitched onto the robe next to the monogram?Like this for instance?
Or maybe you could do the navy and polka dot and then get some cheap, fluffy white slippers at the dollar store for your girls to wear as well.
Or could you do the coral with navy colored monograms?

I love the pink coral just because it’s my favorite color though, I would probably go for the navy in your case. It fits your theme and it will probably be more of a crowd pleaser. A bright pink like that isn’t everyone’s cup o’ tea but the navy would work for all tastes.

I prefer the first coral!

I got my bridesmaids robes too. I got ones that match their dresses, I figured that they could wear them while getting ready so they will already have the right colors on for make up too.
Probably silly but..that was my thought. =]

Love the coral! It’s also a very flattering color for people. 🙂

I think that the coral is the most beautiful!

I voted for the navy. Not only does it go with your theme, but its super cute. If you’re worried about them looking masculine, then make sure the font and color of the monogram is more feminine.

I love the navy ones (and was going to order that color for my bridesmaids, with the bright pink for me – I liked the fun contrast and they are both part of my wedding color scheme). I also like that the navy is a little reminscent of a man’s robe, but will definitely not look masculine on the ladies.
That being said, if you like the pinks best, go with them. I don’t think everything has to perfectly match your theme, and the pink would provide fun contrast (as opposed to clashing).

@SweetHoneyBee: lol yeah, it IS polka dot so idk how can it look so masculine…
Anyway, yes I would like to suprise them and they are a sneaky, clever bunch so if I do any of that “what do you think of this?” stuff they’ll be onto me for sure! Hense why I’m here… lol
There are a few embroidery places near me and they do all sorts of script embroidery and etc so I know I can make it pretty… but I don’t want it to get lost in the polka dots either… hmm
I was thinking just their first letter (big tho, maybe 3″-4″) in a swirly script font like these:
@UpstateCait: hehe I love coral too and my girls ARE all pretty girly so I know they would too but the Navy is super tempting to go with the theme… hmmm… I made this collage with me in White and my 6 girls in navy and I’m still feeling its a bit manly…
@hopefloats: Thanks for your vote! I made this collage with one of the other robes available in white with the same “coral” color printed with flowers and I think I’m starting to lean towards the coral too. 🙂

@SincerelyShe: Thanks for your vote! I want a super fem monogram for sure but I was just thinking about it and do you think it might get lost in the polka dots? I wanted to do it in white but I’m not sure it would be noticable with the polka dots as a background…
@BostonTerrier: hehe what a fun idea! I’m pretty sure I could rock either but when I think long and hard about it I think the majority of my girls would prefer the coral… but I love that it would continue the theme into their gifts…
dahhh so confused

I say go with what you think your BMs will like and wear over and over- you say they’re girly, so maybe the coral! However, if I was given a coral robe… I would wear it the single time it was necessary for my friends wedding and then never again. Most pinks are generally just too bright and too girly for pale me, but the navy I would wear all the time!
I love your theme, by the way- I’ve always been wary of nautical themed things (they remind me of little kid sailor costumes/dresses), but your pics have changed my mind on the theme all together!
Oh, last minute idea- if you want to keep the nautical theme in the robes, why not add a cute little anchor or compass rose to the monograms?
