I think I'll be putting the men in a slightly off-white color. I don't mind 'white-ish', I just don't want stark-white, but they are wearing black so I guess we'll wait and see how it all looks put together. Ultimately it's up to FI (yes, I'm allowing him SOME choice in the matter). ;)
It's funny because I hadn't really thought about it until we went to the store. I guess I'm so used to seeing white shirts, i'm having a hard time with ivory/whiteish.
I've asked my FH to wear an ivory shirt (we're still debating over ivory tie-and-ivory shirt); my dress is ivory lace.
Ivory! It will make your dress look dingy if they wear white! i didn't realize my dress was ivory until i had chosen it and was ordering it... i thought the sample i'd adored was white, well it wasn't it was ivory but i loved it so much i just decided to order it in that color. it really wasn't difficult to get ivory shirts either.... we used men's warehouse and they were wonderful!
Ivory. If someone else is wearing white, the ivory will look dirty :(
I put them in white, however my FI is wearing an ivory vest/tie.
Our groomsmen are wearing ivory shirts. I didn't think it made sense for them to be whiter than I am, and I am wearing ivory.
You could also have them wear colored shirts? My FI is wearing a red shirt.
I think it depends upon "how" ivory your dress is. Mine is so light that a white shirt won't make much of a different. Plus, I've noticed that men's ivory is much darker than normal...darker than my dress. My fiance also doesn't want to make the GMs spend money on a new shirt in this economy when they have a perfectly good on in their closets, which I completely agree with. So, either way, you'll be fine!
I wore an ivory dress, groom and groomsmen wore white shirts, and DH wore an ivory tie. I thought we looked fine!

When I looked at the ivory at men's wearhouse, it was a lot more yellow-ivory than my dress... so we just went with white.
Mine is wearing white bc those men's warehouse shirts were so yellow!! I couldn't believe that was their only ivory!
I think it depends where you're getting your shirts from. We ordered ours through a boutique store and the ivory of the shirts matched the ivory of my dress very closely. I also saw the ivory shirts at MW and did not like them at all. There are lots of ivory shirts out there though so shop around a bit and you'll find something that looks good!
Thanks for the pics and advice. I'm thinking of getting a swatch of my dress to compare to the ivory shirts. The woman at MW said we should get ivory but based on what ilm hearing I don't want the ivory to not match the dress color.
I also like the white shirt, ivory tie...I may have to check that out too.
Linguo42's picture looks great! My dress is also ivory and my fiancé was talking about wearing a champagne tue so I agree this is the way to go!
@TiffanyMM: I completely agree. It really does depend on how ivory the bride's dress is. Mine is a very pale ivory but it photographs white and to me could even pass for white in person. We went with white shirts. The Men's Wearhouse ivory shirts are VERY ivory and they would have been too dark for my dress.

FI and I went to Men's Warehouse this weekend and as we were looking I came to a realization...my dress is not white!! What color shirt should the guys wear?
Other brides that are wearing/work ivory-ish dresses, what color shirts did the groom and groomsmen wear?
