We went to pick out the tuxes today, and the guy at the shop suggested we get ivory shirts. They look really yellow to me, and my dress is far from really being ivory. He said the white would be too white next to my dress. The back of the vests we picked are true white, so I feel like that would look odd with ivory shirts. Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone share pictures of white or ivory shirts with the bride’s dress a different shade of white?

i would go white – my dress was called candlelight? whatever that is haha somewhere between white and ivory – but it looked white to me.
if the backs of the vests are white and your dress seems more white than ivory i think white shirts are a safe bet!

I don’t have any pics to show you, but I think you should go with white shirts. I know what you mean – my dress is diamond white too, so I was thinking ivory shirts might be better so that my dress doesn’t look dirty. But when we compared the white vs. ivory shirts, the ivory was sooo yellow. I think most girls wear non-pure white dresses and most guys wear white shirts, and that combo always ends up looking great.

I wore a white dress and my Fiance and the guys wore white shirts.
You can kind of see what it looks like in my teaser pictures with just my husband and I.

I had an ivory dress, and the groomsmen wore white shirts. It wasn’t an issue.

My dress is Maggie’s diamond white. I plan to have Fiance wear a white shirt, white vest, and white tie because Maggie’s diamond white looks way more white than ivory.

I wore light Ivory and my Groom and Groomsmen wore white shirts and it looked just fine. Initially I thought I wanted them in Ivory based on what I’d read that Ivory dress= Ivory shirst for the guys. When we looked at the Ivory shirts we didn’t like them at all. My husband let me choose everything I wanted for our wedding, but he almost refused to wear an Ivory shirt. LOL! The white looked crisp & sharp where as the ivory shirts really looked Yellow and way darker than my dress.

Please don’t get swayed by the sales constultants and think you need ivory! Please! This is so riduclous and I’ve heard it over and over and it’s just a way to get you to pay more! Our guy told us it would clash so bad, make my dress look dingy, throw the whole wedding off! OMG please. Darling Husband wore white, as did the groomsmen, I wore Jcrew ivory. No one blinked an eye, nor did we ever think of it again even when looking at photos. You really cannot tell, and even if you think you can spot a difference it doensn’t matter! No it really doesn’t matter. It won’t make your wedding look more ‘put together’ it’ll just be a waste of your time and the boys will think they’re shirts look weird.
