What do your bridesmaids dresses look like? Are they inappropriate for a teenager?  How “developed” is your jr. bridesmaid?

I definitely had an “adult” body at 13 and would have been waaay happier in a bridesmaids dress than the wacky cuts of the Jr bridesmaids dresses that I see.  Is there another BM dress in the same line with maybe a little more coverage?

@Bjones107:  I presume you mean junior bridesmaid?  My junior bridesmaids’ dresses were the same color and fabric — but a slightly different style —  than my bridesmaids dresses. My flower girl wore light ivory, as did I. However, you also can choose to have your junior bridesmaid match the flower girls, or you, or no one, depending on the look you like best.

I was a “junior bridesmaid” when I was 13, and my aunt put me in the same dress as her 2 yr old flower girl. I hated it. I thought I would get a dress more like the bridesmaids, you should get one that’s similar but age appropriate & pretty 🙂

@Bjones107:  i ordered my neice (11 years old) the same dress and color as my bridesmaids, except hers had halter straps. I took it to my alterations guy and he took out thr boning in the bust & altered it to fit her AND made it age appropriate. Alterations were $45 total.  I didnt want her to look like a little girl wearing a womans dress. It turned out perfect!!

We ordered our bridesmaids the same color as my maid of honor but just the shorter version.

I have 2 jr BM that will be 13 and 15 at the time of the wedding.  My colors are are dark grey, pink, and white.   We chose 2 different styles of the same dress.   The BMs and the jr BMs will all be wearing one of those 2 styles, but the BMs will be in grey and the jr BMs will be in pink.

@Bjones107:  Youre welcome! I didnt want my neice to look too mature as shes still a little girl. I also didnt want her to be wearing a strapless dress. The halter strap was perfect! Her dress came with the halter but I really think your alterations person could make halter or other straps out of the fabric they cut off the bottom!! Something to consider!

Is a junior bride the same thing as a junior bridesmaid? If not, what is a junior bride?

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding with a jr. bridesmaid. She wore a very similar dress to ours (fabric, length, color) but hers had straps and a bit more coverage. We had Bill Levkoff dresses, and I think hers was a jr. bridesmaid version designed specifically for that style.

My junior bridesmaid is only 9 but she is super-tall for her age, so I wasn’t sure what to put her in. I asked her mom if she’d prefer to wear the flower girl dress (a poofy ivory tulle tea-length dress) or something similar to the bridesmaids dresses (knee- or tea-length forest green chiffon). They chose the green chiffon. My maids got their dresses at Alfred Angelo, and AA offers all their bridesmaid dresses in jr bm sizes as well, so she had plenty of options to choose from.
