Our DJ offered an amazing deal on uplighting that was too good to pass up on, but I’m just not sure what color to use.
Our colors are emerald green and navy blue, and almost all photos I’ve seen for uplighting are either purple, light blue, or pink which I don’t think really go well with our colors.
I think green uplighting can look good (like the photos below) except I read somewhere that it’s not very flattering. Plus, if it’s not done correctly, I think it can give the room an eerie feel.
A golden tone would be really flattering, but is it too safe/boring?
What do you think, Bees? If you used uplighting, what did you use?

My venue said NO green lighting because people look like the hulk in pictures! Haha! I originally wanted green but that changed my mind. I know I am late at commenting but I felt the urge to share that 😉

akkaer1: Too funny, I was JUST reading another thread about uplighting when I got an email notification that you commented on this one!
Anyway, I agree that green is probably not the way to go. I definitely don’t want people looking like the Hulk or are sick in photos. Lol! I talked with our DJ and he’s got some color changing lights where he’ll use a soft amber color during dinner, and then change it to blue when open dancing starts.

vip0802: Please tell me what color you ended up going with? My wedding is next year and my venue is offering uplighting for free. My colors are similar to yours – it will be navy blue, sage green, and peach. I’d love to see pictures of your venue with the uplighting if you have them!

Wedding lighting is what i do for a living. The safe color to use is amber. There are lighter and darker versions. A lighter amber would be R (Rosco brand) 08 and R09. Darker would be R16 and R21.

Avena: Sorry for the late reply! The DJ ended up using different colors throughout the night and I thought they all looked great in the room. Here are some photos.
pswtec: Month twin! Thanks for the info and I agree amber is safe. There was one point during the night where the DJ used it and it gave the room a really beautiful glow, but we don’t have any photos of it unfortunately.
