I agree grey would look great. If you want to change your bedding down the line so many colors work with grey so you wouldn't have to re-paint the bedroom.
Grey would look great! Our bedroom is grey and I love it. We did 3 walls in a really light grey and the wall the bed is on is a darker grey.
I agree with grey. Also, depending on the size of your bedroom, and how much natural light you have coming in, a nice cocoa brown might look nice. But, if your room is on the smallish side and/or doesn't have alot of natural light coming in, it could be too dark and maybe a bit overwhelming. Also, take into account what type and color of flooring you have. Carpet or wood floors?
God, I watch waaaaay too much HGTV
My favorite designer is Candice Olson, and this is one of her rooms. I posted this pic b/c I think the color combo is SO pretty!! With the deep purble, and pale greens and tans. And although the painting is purple and bedding is shades of green & tan, you could invert :)
Our bedding is a dark purple as well. Our furniture is dark espresso and we have charcoal gray sheets and pillows. We will be painting our bedroom a light, purplish gray color. I can't wait.
Is your furniture dark or light? What about the shade of purple for your bedding?

Paint Color (w/a tad more gray though)

@Wonderwoman217: We have a tanish carpet.
@stephinPA: Our furniture is a lighter wood color.
Thanks for all of the ideas everybody!
We have purple bedding (like the ones in StephinPA's post), too! I think sage or a light, creamy yellow would look good. I think we're going to go with a yellowish beige, but we're not sure yet. :) Gray would look good, but I like warm colors!
StephinPA: where did you find that color purpleish gray? I know that's not the color you're using, but I like it!
@hope1275: The paint color? It's from Sherwin Williams and it's valled Vaguely Mauve.
I like sage green with purple! Also, a warm yellow may look nice? I think grey looks great with purple, but you said you want to stay away from neutral colors.
Grey, all the way. Especially a light slate grey. I'm obsessed with grey in general.
A different shade of purple or grey.
Elephant grey if you can find it is a really good grey- Im sorry I dont know which brand it is. WATCH OUT for greys with blue tints! Similar to beiges with pink tints. We bought a grey and it turned out blueish, I was pretty disappointed..
A very light peach or pink could be nice, if wanted something warmer. Otherwise I agree with sage green - I think that would be lovely.
I had purple bedding at my dad's house, we chose a really light silvery/powdery gray, with a dark gray accent wall over my bed! I LOVED it!

Our bedding is purple, and I would like to paint the walls a color to match. I'm trying to stay away from neutrals, I've been in an all white house for a while and I'm ready for some color! We are going to hang pictures of sun sets above the bed, so I would like the wall color to go with those too. Any ideas?
