I'm doing blue and yellow -- go to Macys and look at the martha stuff if you want to know exactly which colors.
What colors are you doing? I know red is popular, but I am so not a red person! :)
I'm all about a lot of complimentary colors! Our Kitchen Aid Artisan is grey, we're getting some blue, red, and yellow Le Creuset things, our mixing bowls are glass, not sure about plates... I think you get the idea. Bright and sunny with hints of modern is theme enough for me. :)
I live in an apartment so technically red and cream...but my mom picked it out...hmm...well I WANT dark cabinets, w/ green glass tile on the walls, cement or that science lab counter tops and light hard wood floors. *sigh* Someday...
cranberry, aka red, lol. I know absolutely not one person who did this! b ut it works for me, and i love it.
my 1st choice was yellow though!
I thought I'd be a red kitchen girl until I found these blue dishes that are B-E-A-UTIFUL! :) (Denby - Azure Coast) http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=214773&CategoryID=32384 So now my (future) kitchen will be blue...haven't thought of an accent color yet...I love the idea of yellow! :)
PS. I ordered a lot of that Martha stuff too - like the light blue colanders!
Yes! Those colanders were what won me over! And our china is white martha stuff, so... yeah, it all matches kinda. :)
Ours is very neutral.
Dark red wood cabinets, black countertops and warm taupe walls. Our appliances are all stainless steel and our dishes are all a neutral cream.
We are registering for white china because we want it to be classic.

My kitchen is painted bright yellow (I love it!) so I went with the Fiestaware Shamrock color as the accent color. Most of the stuff in the kitchen is white, stainless or green. My mom gave me some beautiful multi-color plates that pick up the yellow and the green wonderfully. Blue would have been a nice accent color as well. Maybe when I re-do the kitchen in 10 years or so....
The house that we just got an accepted offer on has a pale yellow color (that we'll keep for now), honey cabinets, and a wood floor. There's a white dishwasher and we're getting stainless steel oven/stove and fridge. I don't know if we'll do the dishwasher right away... Plates are white. We registered for pretty much everything WHITE! When I have time I want to paint the cabinets black and then it will be awesome :-)
I'm a plain jane. Everything I've registered is white :)
Our future kitchen is pretty enough that I don't really want anything to clash with it! Not to mention I have OCD and can't sleep if anything is left on top of the counters. My kitchen looks like it belongs in a home depot show room because its so bare. lol
LaborOfLove - you should have our almost house. The kitchen is yellow with BLUE lights! :-)
I can't wait to paint the cabinets black....
everything we own pretty much is silver/red/black with dark timber... We need to replace the frige so it goes with everything else but were renting, so it can wait!
Our kitchen itself is very neutral and we rent so we can't pain. But we're decorating with red and yellow.
haha i totally asked for a ton of blue martha stewart stuff from macys! that collection is SO cute! i have however always been in love with the empire red kitchen aids so i did ask for that.
side note.. i didn't register at target but was walking through it the other day and thought they were really cute. thinking it would look cute along with the blue martha stuff in the kitchen. the cabinets in the future home will be white and the upper where the plates will go have glass doors, so i thought these could look cute to display behind the glass:

@KLP that's going to look awesome with black cabinets! :)
Thanks! I really think so too! When we first saw the house I was like, "ugh, this yellow has got to go!" but it's really grown on me and I don't want to change it! lol
The cabinets though are going to take forEVER to paint :-( It may be a while before I get to that project...
Just do it in sections... Like do the upper left cabinets one weekend, doors and all, then lower left the next...
Or um.. maybe not weekends, since you are a photog! Well, just whenever works for you then :)
@bloodgo: those ARE cute!! I totally hope someone here displays those plates :)
@ FutureMrsMartin,
Um. Jealous, much? Yes! Thank you! LOVE your kitchen!
@KLP2010,
OMG! Your kitchen is such a good size! I love the yellow!! It's so bright and cheerful!
My dream kitchen would be HUGE. Big enough for two sinks; one in a island. And a eating area off to the side with a big bay window that has a bench. With all stainless steel appliances. I've already told the FI I'll clean that SS every week if I have to. But I want stainless steel!
And the fridge. Has to be one of those with the pull out freezer at the bottom. Two doors that open up to one big wide fridge. I hate walking through the kitchen appliances section at Home Depot or Lowes. The worst was the one time there was one on wicked sale. Sigh.
"tuscan gold" which is a faux finish yellowy golden color. The rest of it's a matte sage green (yucky) and we'll be painting it a nice rich orange-red color. Sticking with the rustic italian colors.
Ours will be green, yellow, and white. We haven't bought a house yet, but thats the color scheme of all the stuff we registered for! We're getting the Pottery Barn Sausalito dishes in Blanca, Amber, and Celery - love!

We have dark cabinets I LOVE and I painted the walls bright green. Our dining room is blue, though, so I'm thinking that I might go for a mix of green, white, and blue accessories.
My best friend has red, & she LOVES wine so that's also what her kitchen/dining room area is. I really have no set "theme", except our whole house is green, brown & white with splashes of different colors here & there. I was kind of iffy about the green & brown look throughout the whole house, but as I started to find out what I liked, I wouldn't have it any other way :)
@ Corgi,
*drool*drool*drool*
OMG. Your kitchen ROCKS. It's So big! Such a nice big ample eating area. I love your dining table! IT's so awesome with the benches!! Where did you get it?!
I long for the day we go house shopping. I'll go directly to the kitchen first. Who cares about the master bedroom!
Gerbera I soooo feel the same
@gerbera- thanks!! We just moved in a few weeks ago and I looooooooove the kitchen. my last kitchen had (literally) 3 cabinets. THREE. I had to balance a cutting board on a stove burner to chop veggies. This was quite an upgrade for me haha. About the dining room table--- I totally lucked into it! We weren't going to buy a dining table yet but we were at Ashley Furniture looking for a couch and I saw that one and it was all over for me. I loved the rustic top with the chairs/bench combo... I declared that I. Must. Have. It. and the rest is history :)
my kitchen is a deep dark blue! and our living room is a really interesting green - Rejuvenate by Behr. It's bright and cheery, but also somehow is a neutral back drop for all the other colors i've put in there. We have green dishes.. We won't think about upgrading or getting china until we move someday.
CorgiTales - can you see the blue walls from your dining room in your kitchen? I'm thinking of doing a green scheme in the dining room, but the yellow of the kitchen is more pastel. The dining room is currently "sage" which is my LEAST favorite color, even though it's in the green family. I want to do a bold kelly green below the chair rail moulding and a lighter green above... I just don't know if it will look goofy from our pale yellow kitchen.... (if we make it to closing of course!)
Something like this with Kelly Green down low and a complimentary shade above

OR, I like this too....

I guess it could still go with yellow....
sorry to go OT, but my dining room can be seen from my kitchen so I want them to be kind of cohesive. lol
Gerbera - Thanks! I like the yellow but I feel like it's a little pale. I'm thinking if the cabinets are black it will pop a whole lot more! OR... I may have to darken the yellow... but if I do that I'll probably turn them green...
CorgiTales pretty much has my dream kitchen. The green walls, black cabinets... drool.
@corgi I love your paint choices. They look so good!
Our cabinets will be black and the walls nuetral. My fiance really likes stainless and brushed stainless stuff, and I like a little more color. We'll see how we decide to compromise! I do know I want Fiestaware in scarlet, turquoise, lemongrass, and chocolate. He wants
thanks all :)
@klp- I LOVE the first pic you posted with the chair rail. Oh man... if I hadn't already painted my dining room I'd totally do something like that! Couldn't take any longer than the stripes! haha. And no... you cannot see the dining room from the kitchen. They share a wall and you can only see them together if you stand in the hallway right where the wall separates them. But, the color scheme for my whole main level is pretty consistent. Dining room is dusty blue, kitchen/bathroom are bright green, living room will be a deep wine color, and each of the three rooms has all three colors in it. (green couch with blue wall hangings in great room, red placemats with green wall hangings in dining room-- weren't up yet in the pic i posted, and the kitchen will have red and blue accents).
I am not sure if this is answering the question, but we're registering for chrome and silver appliances. That way when the decor changes they won't be clashing.
Ohhh, I have no idea! It seems like time I think about one project, something else comes to mind! I'm all on the backyard landscape for right now!
I think for the kitchen, I'd like a green. I'm really thinking of makign the whole house shades of green on the inside, although someone(mr.papabear) might now like it.LOL
This was my Polyvore kitchen board I made when I was registering... I think we ended up with everything on there except the French White Corelleware (got Pyrex instead). (And we didn't get the cupcakes, unfortunately.) I recommend doing this when you're registering so you see how all your stuff goes together.
blue and white but plan on changing this in the next couple of years :D
We live in an apartment so I havent really been able to do my own thing to it! We have different colors all over the place! Whatever color hand towels I find is what we go with for that week! LOL! The walls and cabinets are white and the counter tops are greyish!! Cant wait to start looking for a house after our wedding!
@Corgi I love your colors there...esp the blue...LOVE IT! Beautiful.
Our dishes we have now are green and I just saw our first shower gift is the blue dishes I picked out!!! YAY for peaking at our registry...you know you do it too! LOL!
Lol so true. I also peek at other people's registries and tell them what's going on... hahaha i am a registry peeker! What a bad bride :D
We knew we would be moving within 3 years of our marriage (cross your fingers!) so we registered for all stainless steel appliances. This way we felt like we could move them into any space easily :) Here's hoping.... :)
@Corgi Tales: love love love it all! Congrats and great job!
All the major appliances (stove, dishwasher and fridge) are black and our small appliances (kitchen-aid) and curtains are red.
