We've been trying to pick colors for our dining room. I think we're going to go with a verdant green. We've narrowed it down to a couple of the historic registry greens like La Fonda Grassy Knoll or La Fonda Plaza Green or Woodlawn Promised Land. Right now we have strips of all of these and a few others on the wall behind our piano to figure it out!
Our buffet, chairs, and table are dark wood. The colors I used to decorate are primarily a deep red, with a bit of gold as accent color. My room is bright b/c we have huge picture windows and white walls.
My friend has a similar dining room but it looks more upscale and dramatic. Walls are dark burgandy with dark brown accent curtains and furnishings.
This isn't either of our dining rooms, but here's the idea of the color scheme. Makes me think of wine @ dinner parties.
Ours is a light sage color. We have since gotten a new table and put up new artwork.
Our dining room and living room are combined. Two walls are a cream and two walls are a sage sort of green. Our kitchen is bright, cheerful yellow (which I love)
Our dining room is Benjamin Moore 'raintree green' with bright crisp white trim

Ours is white and I HATE it! I can't wait to do a make over on it!
Ugh, our dining room is hideous. When we moved in, I wanted to paint it orange and tan, kind of like what you see in a Panera. FI agreed, and then said, "okay, I'll go get the paint colors." He came back with rusty orange and muddy brown. The colors are way darker than what we had agreed on, and it does not look good. Who knows, maybe the colors we agreed on wouldn't even have looked good, but the ones he got definitely don't. I can't wait to paint it again, and when I do, the color I want is smokey taupe by Benjamin Moore (or something similar):

@Bubu82: That's our go-too neutral throughout our house. It's a gorgeous color!
Now our our dining room is white. My husband bought the house before I was around and I was too lazy to deal with painting, considering we weren't expecting to be there long.
We just put a bid on a house that has bright colors all over already, I love it! If we get it, our dining room will be green, kind of sagey
Same as when we moved in. A lot of people say they like it but I want to paint it
Ours was this obnoxious bright yellow, and being that i like richer, darker colors I painted it grasshopper green as it was called.

I just primed our dining room today. It used to be this somewhat awful yellowy colour, and right now I have no idea what colour is going to replace it.
So, what colour is your dining room? Bonus pictures if you post a picture!
Secondarily, what are the colours of some of the dining rooms (either in friends/families homees or restuarants etc) that you really loved?
