Well I would either do the first dance before people get their food or after they get it but not while they are eating. It doesn’t really matter if you do the first dance before or after dinner. I personally like to keep all the dancing together after dinner. If you do the Daddy daughter dance first then I think you should do all the dancing after dinner because a Daddy daughter dance, then a mother son dance and then a first dance all before dinner and seperated from all other dancing would be a bit much IMO.

    My original timeline was this:

    1. Entrance
    2. Open buffet
    3. Toasts during dinner
    4. First dance then parents dance
    5. Open dance floor

    But on the day of:

    1. Entrance
    2. First dance then parents
    3. Open buffet
    4. Toasts
    5. Open dance floor

We ended up doing the planned dances right away because we were a little early so dinner wasn’t quite ready.  I thought it was nice to get the structured part of the evening out of the way. 🙂

Usually at most weddings I’ve been to, the dances happend before dinner that way if other people hear a song they like to dance to they cant just jump on the dance floor because the floor has already been opened. but if you wait till after dinner its just bit dull IMO
