Who is your auto insurance with and do you love them? I was with statefarm for over ten years under my parents insurance. Being married, it only makes sense that Darling Husband and I combine policies. Omg! It was expensive! I found a better rate with the same coverage with Geico so I switched and put us on a plan together. I’m having anxiety about it though and almost want to switch back to statefarm and we just pay the extra money!
So tell me, who is your auto insurance company and do you love them? Why/why not?

I did the same thing, sort of!
DH’s family was with State Farm forever. My family was with AllState last I heard, but my step-dad is a lot like me — he rate checks every year. Lol. We’re budget-minded people.
Darling Husband and I have a policy through Geico and so far I love them. DH’s truck was insured through State Farm for what we have all THREE of our cars (including my 2012) insured for through Geico. We also went through their Homeowner’s Insurance carrier and got that discount. I’m pretty impressed.

I have Geico and so does Fiance under separate accounts and we have nothing bad to say about them. They’ve always been incredibly helpful on the phone when we’ve had any questions and when we got hit in an accident they were great. We called them the night of the accident, they took all the details and said to let them know if we have any problems with the other insurance company. Sure enough, the other drivers insurance was dragging Fiance around so Geico stepped in and got it resolved real quick for us. I used to have Allstate and was paying almost double what I am now and I have no complaints whatsoever about Geico and have not hear any from anyone else I know with the same insurance.

Darling Husband and I have State Farm and I’ve been with them for almost 10 years (and my family for WAY longer than that). They’ve always been super easy to work with, especially when I had to deal with a hit and run by an uninsured driver earlier this year.
Darling Husband and his family had always been with AllState but we priced out both (and Geico) when we got married and State Farm was best. That combined with the wonderful service I’ve always had and it was a no brainer.

My insurance is through Erie, which is a smaller company in the midwest and northeast. They don’t really seem to advertise, but they are known for their customer service. It is a must for me to have a local agent I trust and who is very accessible, which is exactly what I’ve gotten with them. They seem to be more expensive than the trendier online-type companies but cheaper than some of the other places I shopped for comparable coverage, including my previous State Farm policy.
I’ve been in an accident in the middle of the night on an icy highway, plus once someone hit my car while it was parked overnight, and once that happens, you are glad you don’t have minimum coverage with a sky-high deductible and an 800-number.
When I was shopping, I made a spreadsheet of the coverage I wanted, compared a few quotes from online, and then took that spreadsheet with the quotes to local agents and asked them for competitive pricing. My agent not only met those quotes within reason, but also won my business in spades because of how great her customer service skills were.

State Farm for us, we moved to them a few months ago because it was 1/3 for what we were paying at American Family. We also added a 15 year old to the State Farm that we didn’t have on the American Family and it was still 1/3 of the costs. DH nor I will have car insurance through a company that doesn’t have a local office, just our personal preference, we like having someone to hold responsible if something goes wrong and not just a phone number.

@AmeliaBedelia: @kaw2be: This makes me feel SO much better! I kept reading negative reviews about them so this makes me happy that you all have such great things to say & positive experiences with them! Thank you 🙂
@Mrs.KMM: I love Statefarm but the rate or both Darling Husband and I was ridiculous. We are Getting the same coverage with Geoco for way less money. I’m sad to leave Statefarm, but I have to! 🙁

I have USAA and think they’re great! I work in a body shop and in my experience, State Farm is the easiest for the shop to work with and their customers seem happiest. They use the shop’s estimates so work can begin quicker, pay supplements quickly, and get their rental car set up quickly (I worked with Hertz before this job). I don’t know all the details with billing and stuff and we do mostly State Farm, but the less happy customers come from Nationwide, Shelter, esurance, and Progressive. (not always!). Geico is kind of hit or miss. Farm Bureau makes stuff pretty easy too! Like I said, I love USAA, but haven’t had a wreck so haven’t needed to use them too much. I have all my banking and renters insurance through them too.

My family has used Nationwide for years and I love them.

We’re with Infinity now afterProgressive jacked my rates. So far I’m really happy with them, we nearly cut our rate in half by switching and have the same coverage.

We have progressive, it’s actually a local company for us since their HQ is here in Cleveland. When I moved here, they were the only ones who would sell me insurance on a car I didn’t own, with an out of state license. Plus they were really helpful on the phone. And they have a website which was a must for me.

I have USAA and I LOVE it. I have been in an accident (not my fault) but they were still really great. I have been with them for 11 years.

Also with Geico. This marked the first year I have had to buy my own insurance plan and it was nerve wracking! Buying a policy online did make it easier. I have to say I was a bit disappointed by Progressive. My quote with them was almost $300 higher than with Geico, and I have a spotless driving record!

I have nationwide. I had them when I was a teenager under my mom’s plan and loved them then. As an adult I used to have direct because they were cheaper but their customer service is not very good. I switched back to nationwide and I love their customer service and a bonus they are now actually the lowest rate from everyone I looked at which is amazing.

@anemon Your insurance sounds great and you sound happy with them. I hated my local agent with statefarm. He is arrogant & not really friendly…another reason I made the switch.
@jrzvol: I loved Statefarm but the price for us both was horrible! Maybe I should look for another agent (mine was arrogant) and maybe they could get me lower rates and I just stay with them. I hate change!
@Aure: I’ve heard that Progressive is notorious for hacking up rates! Did you have an accident or a ticket that was the cause for the rate increase?
