Price, being able to cater in, able to serve alcohol.  None of those others came into play for me at all.

I had to have all of my guest in one room, hate the carpets in hotels banquet rooms and the room had to have a wow factor.  I don’t understand why more venue don’t upgrade their chairs.  I find seat covers chessy and slightly ugly.

Location was number one..i wanted it to be close to the church as we werent having abreak in between.

second was price, we obviously wanted something affordable and we wanted to be able to bring inour own caterer and alcohol

third, parking and access to transit and and places to stay. I ended up getting married on campus so everyone was able to stay in residence or at hotels that were a stumble away from our reception

fourth was how it looked. i ended up finding a venue that was all our wedding colours (creepy no??) so it turned out!

none of the poll options.  being outdoors and being able to bring in own caterer.  pretty grounds.  price.  location.

I have yet to walk out of a venue, but to me the first impression plays a big factor in my decision.  We recently looked at a venue that had really dark hunter green and burghandy accents everywhere.  Our colors are purple and gold… doesn’t really work.  So a nuetral color scheme (or at best, one that matches our colors!) is important to me.

Mine was price & Catering…. for under $500 and a place to accomodate our original 250 guests & a Full Kitchen I dealt with the shuffle board in the middle of the floor & the ugly green walls. lol

Location. I wanted it downtown, where people could stay at a hotel within walking distance from the venue AND all the good stuff to do, and because downtown Savannah is just so darn pretty. I also wanted good food because nothing’s worse than going to a wedding and having the stereotypical bland catered wedding food.

I saw a venue that had track flourescent lighting and about 7″ tall ceilings for their “in case of rain” place for the ceremony.  I almost cried when I saw how horribly ugly it was.  For us, yes, views were most important, but horrible looking lighting (oh and also, they didn’t allow draping or anything to attach to the ceiling, so we couldn’t hide it) really made me say no.

@posh_princess: old swirly design carpets, like you get in some hotels – mainly the ones that are in need of an update to the decor I think the same ones that Ms. Valentin mentioned.

    note – no offense meant.

Chairs also had weight on my decision too. I am not a fan of chair covers, and just love white wooden chairs too much that I had to have them!
