What did I do wrong? Workout resulted in internal pain..

TMI but I’ve only had that happen when I’m super gassy or constipated…working out has a bad effect on those days!  Maybe try it again in a day or two but do the simplest beginner versions of everything and definitely do the warm up and cool down portions.  If it hurts doing that, I’d call your doctor because my 50yr old mom can do the level one shred and not have a problem (and she’s usually always pulling some muscle or other).  Better safe than sorry!

If it caused that much pain I would avoid doing it again.  Perhaps you did not have proper form for one of the moves and injured youself that way?  I’ve done that before but it wasn’t as bas as what you described.  Or needed a longer warm up or cool down stretch?  If I were you I would try a workout I’ve done before and see if there’s any pain.  That way you’ll know if it was just one of those moves or if there is something else wrong.  If it happens again with another work out I would go to a doctor for sure.  I’m not an expert of course.

@Ms_Purple:

Exercising, especially new routines/intense moves or if you haven’t worked out in a while can cause a number of physical problems.

This is TMI but I had something akin to IBS for three weeks after an overly intense treadmill workout. Then it went away and never returned.

Intense exercise can also bring on cramps in your reproductive area if you already have cramping issues.

@Ms_Purple:  almost sounds like gallstones. Idk that your workout would have anything to do with causing it to be irritated. If you already have your gallbladder removed, then please ignore this message lol

@Ms_Purple:  I find that if I’m dehydrated, I will get that kind of intense pain. Be sure to have water with electrolytes and hydrate properly.

Sounds like dehydration, you really need to make sure you are well hydrated if you’re going to work out. People don’t drink enough wter as it is, much less adding in high exertion exercise to an already dehydrated body. Dehydration will definitely cause cramping.

Also, you should eat at least something like a banana before you exercise, and carbs/protein after. Exercising on an empty stomach isn’t good for you, it also gives your body zero fuel to burn while you are working out, so instead yoru body burns what you’ve worked so hard for, your muscle.

Gallstones / gallbladder are not lower abdomen pain. It’s more near the chest right in the centre.

@Rainstorm77:  when i had gallstones/gallbladder attacks it felt like extreme period cramps in my lower abdomen & back. Just saying, what Ms Purple said she experienced sounds EXACTLY what I felt when I had gallstones.

@theEguarantee:  That’s really strange! When I had them, it was centre of the chest (the gallbladder is high up) and it felt like someone was reaching through my back from my spine to my chest and twisting. Not painful below that at all.. but I will never forget that pain! Worse than childbirth and I had an 11 lber! Maybe you had something else going on at the same time as I’ve never heard of lower abdominal pain for gallstones. I had a quick look at there are things probems associated with gallstones that give you upper abdominal pain? Who knows… the body is a strange place.

@Ms_Purple:  dehydration, ovarian cysts, mentrual cramps, constipated, pulled something….

Those are all of the things I thought of.
