my mil sent out our invites b/c they were putting it on. she just sent out paper invites with rsvp by phone or email.
I sent out an extra invite in the invitation suite (to the ppl invited to the RD) and included my email for RSVP.
FILs and I picked out a separate invitation for the RD and they are mailing them out once we get the wedding invitations ready to go so everything goes out around the same time. The RSVP date is the same as the wedding RSVP date, not that most of the guests on the RD list have a choice...
We made photo card invitations using one of our e-pics... people loved them! :)
Etsy is a great source for rehearsal dinner invitations. I would definitely look there, as well!
We did separate paper invitations for the rehearsal dinner with RSVP to my FILs via phone or email.
My FILs are doing the invitations. I'm pretty sure they're going to have a photo (cause FSIL asked me to email her our favorite e-pics), but that's all I know :)

Not that my fiance has actually chosen a venue or anything (planning the rehearsal dinner was one of his tasks...), but it's dawned on me that we should probably have some way of communicating the specifics to our guests and determining who all can come. I don't envision my fiance planning the rehearsal dinner before our wedding invitations will need to be sent, plus I'm pretty excited about how the invitation suite turned out and I don't want to add anything to it.
So, what did/will you do for your rehearsal dinner invites? Separate paper invitations with an actual RSVP card? Paper invitations with email/phone RSVP? Emailed invitations? Smoke signals? Singing telegram? Some other awesomely clever strategy?
