My Fi's--ahhh, *husband's* mom asked me if I thought we should have any sort of program for the hometown reception she is throwing for us THIS Saturday.

I have never been to a second wedding reception after a wedding, and I'm not sure what to say.  If I were to plan this, I probably would have planned it differently, but she just wanted a dinner party.  However, now she is asking for my opinion about any activities, entertainment, etc, and so are a lot of the guests!  I have 2-3 days to pull something together--any ideas?

It is being held in the backyard of a family friend's gorgeous estate and it's fairly casual.  Right now I am just planning to play our growing up slideshow, and giving a short thanks from the two of us.  My MIL is also planning to have some classical/big band music playing in the background.

I don't have any professional wedding pictures yet besides a few teasers, so we don't have much to share on that end...

Bees, help me think of something!

What about one of those "wishes for the newlyweds" jars where people can write things down? Or send out an email asking people to bring a favorite recipe to share? Or just setting up a backyard game like horseshoes or cornhole? Or a "make your own ______" bar, like putting out a bunch of toppings for sundaes?

I bet most people will entertain themselves just fine by talking to each other and to you, so don't worry about it *too* much!

ooh, I love the make your own sundaes idea!  I wonder if my MIL has a plan for dessert?...

I'm trying not worry about it--i don't relaly have much time to, but I'd feel better if I had at least a couple ideas to share with her!
