I checked OTHER.
DH started his business! We were young, pregnant, and he started his business to bring in extra cash while working another job. He was able to do both and support us. Eventually, he was able to cultivate enough clients that we could live off of his business and he quit the other job. When our DD was born, I started my business and finally "launched" it when DD was a year old (she's now 10). We've been doing well off of both our businesses and managed to have 3 more kids, and I went through college and grad school.
I'm TTC but haven't done much. I've pretty much eliminated caffeine and am limiting alcohol (but not completely not drinking). I imagine how a baby will work in our house, but I haven't made any changes yet. We already have cars and savings and things like that so we are as prepared as we can be...
It's funny each vacation I have while TTC I think to myself that it may be the last!
We may take a small vacation before baby, but other than that we've already always tried to eat healthy, we have money in the savings, own our home and our cars, and we've both graduated college so we feel pretty set. Now we just need to start making actual baby purchases.
I'm with @Lillindy...except we *just* are finishing buying our house. We have all the major things (jobs/savings/cars/good habits/education/etc).
However, we may also get a new car. I have an '08 escape but we may buy a '11 escape as well.
I *wish I could say pay off student loan, but we got pregnant very quickly, and we are still working on that. I'm not worried, though, since our cars are paid off, have savings, etc.
I also guessed on the amnt we saved, bc honestly my baby brain doesn't remember, plus we kept having to spend the $$$, bc things around the house kept breaking during my pregnancy (AC in July in Austin, last trimester, ugh!)
I am also so glad we took an int'l vacation before having kids, as I'm realizing now long it will be before I will want to do that, since we plan/hope to have kids close in age.
Taking vacations (our last of 3 trips is coming up); drinking lots of good wine; reflooring the house (renos coming up while TTC)...
We're looking at a couple big vacations (NYC, Europe, Egypt and Dominican.... so really 3 or 4 vacations) before TTC. We'll also be buying a larger place to live hopefully.
Hmmm, I guess for me, the DH had some health problems earlier in the year which caused him to not work as much... and so we had to go through most of our savings. :( I kind of want to know how much you gals had save specifically for the baby.
I clicked other...I called around and secured a new OB/GYN based on the hospital where I wanted to give birth. I also started taking pre-natal vitamins about three months prior to TTC.
We are Pre-TTC but I chose other because I picked up the book what to expect before you're expecting and have read it like 10 times. I also chose saving and buying a home. We live in a little 1 bedroom apartment and we went to buy a house.
I had to get a car, it died a week before my Chloe was born. The average birth is anywhere $7000-16000. Believe me honey if that's what you're asking about none of us would ever have babies. If it's money to go on maternity leave, I had enough for my time off plus a little bit more saved. I think by you second post, that's what you're asking?!

Just curious.
I left out buying baby related things because I think everyone has to do that.
