    @sweetchiquita12:  I plan on shoving it in my closet, until and if I have a girl. I will then proceed to take yearly photos of her in it until she protests :). I’m only sort of joking, but I love the idea, which I got here!

    I got a preservation box. It was only $100 from Davids Bridal. But I saw on some tv show the lady had hers displayed in her closet and I would LOVE to do that!! This is what it looked like:

    @sweetchiquita12:  Mine is just sitting in the closet in the bag the bridal salon put it in. Every now and then I go and look at it. It’s such a shame to be sitting there because I love my dress, I wish there was some formal party I could wear it to hahah! It will probs just stay in my closet forever. My mom’s is still in hers, not even in a bag and it is in pretty good shape. I remember always trying it on when I was younger, if I have a daughter I would love to see her in it!

    My mom actually got it preserved for me after the wedding as a gift, but I know it wasn’t cheap. It did get the dirt out, though! And my dress was FILTHY.

    @sweetchiquita12:

    My dress was cleaned, but it is still hanging in my closet (my one and ONLY closet lol) taking up a ton of space.

    I had every intention of selling it because I don’t need to hold onto it, but i’ve had no luck (haven’t tried any of the pay sites though to list it just yet I will say).

    I neded up using it for a photo shoot a few months ago because it was just hanging there LOL.  Mine is cleaned though, …I want to sell it so another bride can enjoy a gorgeous gown for much cheaper than retail, but if it doesn’t sell in the next 5-6 months I’m having it preserved for one of my daughters…I guess lol

    cautionary tale regarding dry cleaners: my aunt made her own dress. it was seriously complicated — bustles you could pull up with drawstrings, layers of lace, hand beaded, the whole shebang. stuff that takes a majorly talented seamstress to make. it took her months to make that dress. unfortunately, the dry cleaners ruined it! basically, the faux pearls melted.

    lesson: do your homework, and make sure to tell them exactly what every single material on that dress is made of.

    @whoa_its_ash:  Me too! Preserved in a pretty box with window, but stuffed into another box without window, stuffed into guest bedroom closet.

    @alysee:  Oh yes, my plan exactly!!! hehehe

    Mine is in the bottom of a box cuz I don’t have room in my closet… I keep meaning to bring it out and see what shape its in… I hope its okay…

    I remember getting a quote to clean/preserve it after the wedding… $350!

    I have the money I just think its kind of a waste and want to try to clean it myself but I’m terrified… Mine is silk… I don’t think you’re supposed to get silk wet… Embarassed

    Anyway… defo want to have a daughter and take pix of her in it! 100000%

    The come out so cute:

    I had ordered mine, but someone at work had the same dress and used it 3mos before, so she gave me hers, for free… as long as I “paid it forward”.  So i put it on Craigslist and a girl came and picked it up.  Her car looked all beat up and she said her FI would be surprised she had a dress (she was going to a skirt and blouse) and her family had been having a hard time.

    Plus after reading some of the threads about how daughters were feeling guilty for wanting thei own dress not their moms, i felt better about giving mine away. Thank gosh my mom didn’t keep hers lol. it was a pink suit she wore to the courhouse.
