I picked other because I only got my husband's ring engraved; it was his groom's gift. I put our wedding date and an inside joke we've said to each other for our whole relationship. I think if the joke is something that you will continually bring up and still appreciate, you should put it on his ring. I like the date thing, but I prefer messages that are more personal and private.
I just put "Love never fails" and the verse in his ring. We didn't engrave my rings. He'd better remember our wedding date since he's the one that chose it.
We're both having AML, AML on our rings, it stands for All My Love, All My Life and it's how his whole family signs all their birthday/anniversary/holiday etc cards and stuff...He also incorporated that phrase into the poem he wrote and framed when he proposed and we'll be using it at the end of our vows. It means a lot to me to be able to incorporate this family tradition of his as much as possible into the wedding!
My ring won't be engraved, but FI's ring is going to say "One Kiss" and the wedding date. When we first went out (weren't officially dating yet) he asked me what was the one thing I wanted and I told him a kiss. So we like to joke that we're getting married now, but all I asked for was one kiss. :)

Well, Mr. MJ's ring is in production, and the jeweler told me to stop by with the text I want engraved on it.
I think we'll definitely do our wedding date - but should i add something else?
I was considering a reference inside joke of ours, but I'm worried that in a few years it won't be funny anymore.
