We always got a new toothbrush… and a ton of candy lol. It changed as we got older, when we were little it was smaller cheap toys. Older it was makeup, lotion, nail polish, girly stuff. My brother always got one of those chocolate oranges that you smash to break apart because he loved them.

Always an orange also in the toe, plus mixed (in shell) nuts, assorted candies, sometimes batteries, audio tapes (showing my age), or other techy gifts. Playing cards were a good backup too, lol, you could always tell the years mom waited till the last minute for stocking cause they were full of walgreens types of things.

Growing up we had stockings as decorations, but didn’t put anything in them. I honestly didn’t know people did that until I was an adult! SO’s mom has a special stocking for me though, and last year she put nail polish, fruit, candy and a tiny face lotion bottle in there. 🙂

Clementines, chocolates, socks, wind-up toys, wooden spoons, um…there’s a box of crayons we gift back and forth in my family…random little things.  We still do stockings every year in my family — it’s my favorite part of Christmas.

And this will be the first year I won’t be home for Christmas.  So that sucks.

@RenoSweeney24:  Please capitalize Polish so people know you’re not asking if someone is nail lacquer, lol.

I don’t think it’s a Polish thing.

@RenoSweeney24:  Not an ounce of polish in me! I did grow up in an area with quite a few polish people. I think it is more that my parents wanted to fill up the stocking. haha
