Well, it wasn’t really a splurge because what happened was we saved extra money elsewhere and ended up with room in the budget- but we did hire a dj instead of doing an ipod like we initially planned.  It just got to the point where it would have been one more diy project that we didn’t have time for.  So I don’t regret hiring someone to take that off our hands at all…

When I think of how much I paid for my dress compared to how long I’ll be wearing it, I feel a little sick to my stomach.  But, it’s really pretty and I love it!

we really didn’t splurge much. i diy’ed a lot including flowers and invites, we didn’t have music or transportation, my dress wasn’t a “wedding” dress so it wasn’t too bad, jewelry and shoes were either borrowed or gifted to me, we got an amazing deal for the venue/food, and even our photographer wasn’t very expensive compared to others.

i think our main splurge was our ketubah. it’s the one thing for the wedding (other than photos) that we want to keep for life, so it was important to me, and i didn’t trust myself diying my own.

Ehh…I can only pick one thing I splurged on? 🙂

We ended up going over budget on the invitations, the cake, and the venue. However, for some of these things, we didn’t really have a set idea of what we wanted to spend; we kind of just picked what we wanted and built our budget around that. But the cake is definitely the thing I’m most annoyed about..I originally wanted to stay around $500, but it’s going to be waaay more than that–that’s what I get for having 200 guests, I guess. I’m in love with our invitations and our venue, so I don’t mind the money that’s being spent on those things.

We splurged on our photographer and on my dress, but DIY’ed a lot of other things so it ended up being ok :]

@Ottawa: thanks! It would have been hard to pick just one!

We are spending more than I wanted on my wedding dress. And the catering is higher than what we were hoping for. Although, we are saving on a cake (free, gift) and we’re saving about $3500 on our photography so it helps to offset some costs.

We didn’t go over budget, but we had planned to splurge on the honeymoon!!

We both LOVE travelling, and wanted to have the nicest room of the nicest hotel for once in our lives kinda thing. Since it was in an all inclusive resort, it was pretty much one of our only expense (plus rings, suit and legal fees)!

We splurged on music.  The only thing that we did not compromise on was our music.  We knew that we wanted a live band from the start.

My cake topper. We’re doing it rather frugally, nobody believes me how little I’ve spent until I bring out the reciepts. I saw the ones on the blog that were made on etsy and had to order a custom set. While it’s not super expensive it is double what I had intended to spend. I’m ok with that though. My mil is making our cake so we had the extra funds for it.

Hah, I want to pick more than one too! I picked my photographer. We totally went over budget on him, but he was incredibly worth it. We have fantastic photos from our day, and they’ll last us the rest of our lives, so I’m insanely happy we went with him.

I would say we also splurged on our food, even though it was a fabulous deal. We had an amazing cocktail hour and all of our food was delicious. I’m really happy with the place we went with.

Definitely our venue, we had to cut down our guest list to make it happen but I couldn’t imagine getting married somewhere else.

We splurged on photography, but I guess at the end of the day, we went over budget so technically everything? Yikes! 🙁
