@cbee:  I had the hospital gown on for the most part and took it off for labor. Having baby on my chest for skin to skin right after was pretty important to me so I just kept the sheet over me until they were born so it could be moved down quickly. And damn, did I get hot and sweaty! Lol.

I wore a short dress so that my midwives could examine me easily, but in the end i ended up being half naked lol. I had no underwear on because i didn’t give a damn in the end and just had a bikini top on, wear what makes you comfortable and keeps you cool. Labour makes you very hot and sweaty 🙂

Hospital gown. I was all planning to get something to wear, but then I asked on here a few months ago and many Bee suggested to just wear the hospital gown. They were right.

I was really easy to nurse in the gown and get skin-to-skin. I just untied the arm and voila!

I am super super claustrophobic about clothing that ties and things that touch my throat, so I’m not wearing the hospital gown. Last time I was in the hospital for a kidney infection the stupid gown would ride up around my throat every time I moved in bed. I’m wearing a black stretchy sleep/nursing bra and a knit athletic-type skirt. I work at the hospital I’m delivering at, and a lot of the mamas I see come in wear the same thing.

No children yet, but, all pictures (’92,’96,& ’99) look like my mother wore a hospital gown.

When I got into my room for labor (actuall pre-labor as I was induced) they made me put my hospital gown on, so be prepared for that just in case.  I kept it on for delivery and just unsnapped the neck/arm for skin to skin.

Commenting to follow — I was planning on buying some sort of really soft spaghetti-strap-type nightgown/dress that would be short, comfortable, slightly cute, but also easy to move out of the way for skin-to-skin/breastfeeding, etc. It’s just my nature to at least PLAN to not look like crap, even though it certainly won’t happen for me, haha. Curious to see what other momma bees have done!

Hospital gown.  I considered buying something cuter, but childbirth is so messy that I’m glad I didn’t waste the money.  I did bring a set of PJs to change into afterward (loose long pants and button-down top) because I thought I’d want to be more presentable for visitors, but I ended up not caring and just staying in the hospital gown.  It was easy to nurse in and get skin-to-skin.

@ellebeerob:  what is the brand of your sleeping nursing bra?

I need some nursing bras but I am already big chested but kind of small around so bras are so hard … i dont know that I will be able to find a comfortable one in my size.. its hard enough in normal, non-nursing bras!!

@MrsB1015:  Same here! I have a 34 inch band and was DD cup pre-pregnancy. The bras I get are Basics by Bravada for Target and they are HEAVEN. The large fits my small band size but large cup size really well!

I just plan to wear the hospital gown and change whenver i think about it.  I am just not all that worried about it. I am more concerned with what I will wear the rest of the time I am there – I think i am going to just wear a nursing tank under an open cotton cardigan and some comfy pants.

@ellebeerob:  That is my exact size! I am SO nervous i will be a 34 E when the milk comes in.  I am so glad I asked – I will order that bra and see how it works out! Do you have any other bra suggestions that you have ordered that fit well?

Thank you!
