@heyitskate: Probably the best place to begin is to answer the questions of how formal or casual your wedding will be, who will be hosting the wedding, whether or not your wedding will take place in a house of worship, whether or not your ceremony and reception will be held at the same location, etc. The answers to these questions will help you to decide on the wording for your invitations.
For example, I had a formal, evening wedding that was hosted by my parents. My wording read:
Mr. and Mrs. Dad's First Middle and Last Names request the honour (British spelling) of your presence at the marriage of their daughter, My First and Middle Names to My Fiance's First Middle and Last Names, Friday, the Twenty Second of May, Two Thousand Nine at Six O'Clock in the Evening, Name of Wedding Venue, City and State of Wedding Venue.
Here's ours:

I ended up googling "wedding invitation wording" and found a couple of websites that gave the basic format for the invites (wish I still had it bookmarked for you!)
welcome
bride's fam (if hosting)
bride & groom
groom's fam (if paying)
invite
date & time
location
