As someone who has always struggled with their weight, when I started my hunt for my wedding dress I knew I wanted to feel sexy and curvy in my dress. I do still have doubts especially as my BFF’s wedding dress is so classic and beautiful – and VERY different to mine. But I still love my dress.
What look were you going for when you picked you dress?
Note: I’m aware that thye poll choices are not mutually exclusive but I don’t know how to give someone the option of picking more than one option!

Timeless and classic is the closest answer and does apply, but I really wanted to look like a more sophisticated, elegant version of myself. I also wanted some lace and something comfortable and easy to move around in. I didn’t really have any ideas about what type of dress I wanted before I went to look. I knew my dress was the right choice because when I put it on it felt right. It was exactly what I was looking for, even though I didn’t realize it until I put it on.

Timeless and classic is the closest for me. I just wanted something very soft, romatic and flowy so that’s what I went for.

- Wedding: A very pretty church.
None of the above? I wanted to look church appropriate, bridal and not crap? I guess I had lower expectations but then with my budget I couldn’t afford to dream big, let alone specific 😉

I don’t know how to answer this… maybe sexy? I want my dress to say “I’m an f’n bride” while still being comfortable AND jaw-dropping. I’m looking at a light-weight, lacy sheath silhouette.

I forgot to say – please feel free to add a photo of your dress!

I love that you specifically used ‘Disney’ for your princess option, as that’s what I instantly thought before I even opened the thread! That describes what I want perfectly and how I describe it in my head every time I imagine what my dress will look like. But as you say, these options aren’t mutually exclusive, and we’re aiming for an elegant, classy affair which I know will be mixed into my look as well. As of right now (haven’t tried on dresses quite yet), the shape is most important to me as I know I want a ballgown, likely made of chiffon, but I’m really leaning toward simple…no lace or beadwork or excessive ruffles or pintucks. Just a sort of simple, princess-y elegance…the bling will come from my jewelry.

elegant and timeless. considering i’ll be almost 40 when i get married, i didnt want to put on a dress that made me look too youngish (if that word makes sense). although i love lace and flowy, and romantic looking, i just couldnt pull it off no matter what i put on. plus i am always dressed kinda casual so i figure this dress will shock the pants off of everyone there..

Princess with major cleavage. Lol I will end up going with a short dress not form fitted but with major cleavage as now we are having a courthouse wedding.

linnylou_88: Jawdropping…and my age, since most people think I’m about 18 or 19 when I’m actually 28.

I want to look like a 1950s movie star.

I wanted to look like a fancier prettier version of me – so something slightly casual, a little bohemian, definitely figure-hugging.

linnylou_88: I wanted my dress to reflect who I am. I’ve always been kind of a free spirit, so my dress was pretty boho. I also wore a flower circlet. I don’t have any pics on this computer, and I can’t find a pic of it on google(odd….everything is on google), but this a dress that looks almost exactly like it:
For my vow renewal, I want something fun and different that also reflects my husband’s taste. He loves 40’s/50’s style clothes, and will be wearing a fedora. Something like this I think:
