@HonoraryNerd:  We’re having a boat load of kids at the wedding (about 25 under the age of 11). I do not forsee any problems. I know each and every one of these kiddos and if they want to get out and dance, let ’em! People are too uptight in my opinion.

Run around, get underfoot and possibly hurt.

@HonoraryNerd:  I think a lot of people just don’t like kids, so they think everything they do is annoying. Most kids are fine.

@lolot:  +1!  I love seeing the kids on the dance floor.  They are also usually some of the earlier ones on the floor, which helps get some of the other people out there too.

I have never seen kids having any issues on the dance floor or running around too much. Everyone at my wedding loved watching the kids break out their dance moves.

I don’t really consider it the children but the parents.  I think children can behave, have fun, and be cute all at the same time.  Sometimes though the parents don’t make them mind and you’ve got them running and falling everywhere.  I’ve seen candy, drinks, and cake thrown all over the floor.  It can be hard to have fun when some kid purposefully spilt coke and/or is crawling on the floor.  Honestly if I’m at a wedding like that I just stay off the dance floor and leave early out of boredom.

It depends on they type of kids you know and even more on their parents. If The parents are the sort to let their kids run riot, fight, shove, eat food on the dance floor then they will probably be a problem. If the parents teach their children how to behave they will dance nicely and be no problem. Just depends which type you are inviting.

Edited to add: it also depends on whether the parents actually bother to supervise their children too

I’ve seen kids behave like angels – but I’ve also seen kids running around the dancefloor, following around the videographer saying “Get me doing xyz!”, having total meltdowns/tantrums on the floor, etc.

I love kids – I work with kids – but we won’t have any at our wedding.
