i have had a couple of guests ask me what they should wear to my wedding since it will be on the beach in Jamaica. they obviously don’t want to wear something they will melt in, but don’t want to be under dressed. and i am not even what to tell them! for both guys and gals.
any ideas or pics would be great!

I have not been to a beach wedding, but judging from all the pictures my friends have on facebook of ones they attended, the guys mostly wore dress shirts and dress pants, and the girls wore light, summery dresses. The dresses look very similar to ones I have seen people wear to other non-beach summer weddings. Hope that helps a bit!

Yeah, dress-wise I see a lot of flowy, comfortable dresses. Fiance and I went to one, and he wore khakis and a button down, with the sleeves rolled up. I wore a sundress. And sunscreen! 🙂 <– that might be a cute favor for guests, btw.

I would wear a sundress
You could have the men wear guayabera shirts – they are what many men in South American cultures wear to weddings – they come in long and short sleeve

Here’s what I put on our website:
What Should I Wear?
Save your little black dress or fancy tux for big-city weddings, and don your most festive tropical attire!
For the ladies, we suggest a colorful dress, skirt and top, or light slacks and blouse. Bring along a sweater or light wrap in case the evening turns cool.
For the men, think Tommy Bahama: khaki or linen pants and a short- or long-sleeved collared shirt or guayabera.
Please, no shorts or t-shirts for the ceremony and reception. But if you plan to stick around for the after-party, DO bring your swimsuit!
And here’s a pic that shows some of my guests (and my husband wearing a guayabera, as a PP mentioned):

I’m telling my guests to go somewhat casual. For the guys, I’d recommend maybe khakis and a polo. The women, summer dresses.

We are putting “Island Formal” on our website… Im sure ill get a lot of questions too, but essentially we dont want people in shorts, so I think that will do the trick. The groomsmen are wearing linen suits, so they will be fairly dressed up
