So if you read my previous posts, you know that I was about to start real estate school for free, thanks to my boss sponsoring me.
Well, here’s the deal. I bought a car and now I’m dealing with a car payment and much higher insurance. Didn’t have to deal with that before. But I figured, no big deal because I’ll just get a part-time job to supplement my income.
But now I’m in my second week of school. And oh my god….it is already overwhelming me. And I haven’t even found a part-time job yet!
The good thing is, school will be over on November 11th. But here’s the bad thing. I really feel uneasy about trying to do a full-time job, school on Monday and Wednesday nights and occasional Saturday classes from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, AND a part-time job.
My family and friends keep telling me it’s not a good idea, I’m gonna stretch myself too thin. They say that I should wait until school is over before I get a part-time job.
They’re technically right. I CAN survive financially without a second job until then. But it’d be very tight. I would have to rely on help from my parents and my BF. And I don’t feel very comfortable with the idea.
Honestly, real estate school just came at a bad time. I need a part-time job like now. But I’m afraid that it’ll be too much for me. And before you say anything, yes, I know I didn’t plan this out properly. It was my mistake. I should have waited to buy the car until AFTER school was over. But there’s nothing I can do now.
And before anyone suggests this, asking for a raise from my current job is not a good idea right now.
So…I’m considering going to my boss and telling him that I’m very sorry but I can’t take the class right now. And if he asks why…what do I say? “I’m broke and need to take a second job just so I can actually save money and not live paycheck to paycheck.”
Another option I’m considering is just looking for another full-time job right now, hence my post about LinkedIn. Of course, this would mean leaving my current job and quitting real estate school only a month in, when my boss paid for the school!
I feel like that’s not fair to him. He’d probably be pissed at me and I can’t blame him.
BUT I NEED MORE MONEY!
Sigh. What do I do? Suck it up and stick it out until November? Rely on my BF and parents to help me get by financially until then?
Get a part-time job and juggle two jobs plus school until November, then it would just be two jobs?
Or just start looking for a new full-time job now?
