I love my pave platinum engagment ring, but about a month after I got it, it had changed shape from a circle to an oval! I just took it in (11 months later) to get cleaned for the third time and the guy who was inspecting it said, “You need to get this reshaped, it’s oval shape might be putting too much pressure on your side stones,” which I understand. I don’t think I am too rough with my ring and I don’t grip a ton of things, but I think since the band is so thin, it’s going to be more likely to get into this oval shape :/
So what should we do? Change settings? Switch to white gold? Just deal with it and get it reshaped every so often? Not wear it as much (then what’s the point of having an engagment ring?!?)? Could it be that the ring is too tight and that’s why it’s losing shape so quickly? What would you do?
Here’s my ring:
I don’t have a pic of it as an oval but just imagine this ring is an oval shape, not a circle. Urgh.
