- Wedding: June 2013
So here the situation…..
My DH’s friend is getting married out of state. This wedding would require my DH and I to travel quite a distance by car and also get a hotel room for the night. Since the wedding is “during wedding season” the hotel rates are a bit pricey. My DH and I are leaning towards not attending this event as he might be out of town on business during the weekend of the wedding. My DH is also not that close with this individual any more and he is not sure he wants to make the trek and spend the money on gas, hotel and gift. So what type of gift do we give? They do not have a registry.
A side note….. I am going to look really bad but here goes…… When my DH and I got married this couple came to our wedding. They gave us a very small gift. My DH was actually taken back by the gift. These people make a ton of money and have no problem dropping 300 dollars on dinner. I know that we are not supposed to play tit for tat with people but I could not imagine giving anyone the gift they gave us. I think my DH is hesistant to go because he does not want to spend all the money on travel and then try to figure out what type of gift to give them.
Oh… and we all live in an area where the cover your plate “rule” applies……
