Our venue has a couple different buffet packages and to be honest, the choices on the buffet seem like it will satisfy all tastes (roast beef, chicken, pasta, fish etc)
The sit down options are about the same price as the buffet, but I would only be able to choose two options. I honestly think the buffet seems like it would have better choices for my guests, but I’m not really sure what people think of buffet style receptions.
Soooo, here’s a poll!

We went with a plated meal because it actually ended up being cheaper than the buffet, though my fiance would have preferred the buffet because of having more options for food. I would have preferred plated either way because it removes the scramble of everyone trying to get up to the front of the room…and because I once fell on my face at a wedding while going up to the buffet in way-too-tall heels.
Honestly, if there’s no difference in price, then just go with your own preference. I don’t think your guests will care much either way as long as they get at least two options, and if they did, they would be divided in their preferences.

I like buffets/food stations (as long as they’re well tended, the food is kept hot, etc., of course)!

Buffets seem cheap to me. And they also annoy me having to wait to get my food as other tables are called and then having to risk tripping and falling into my food coming back to the table.

Personally, I don’t mind a buffet. Especially if my plated options are limited only to two options.

I love buffets because I can eat more of the healthier things/things I like. I like having the option of loading up on salad if thats the only thing I like, then I want to eat a lot of it!

I LOVE buffets. I don’t think they are cheap at all.

i prefer buffets. More options and I can choose what does and does not go on my plate. I can also go back for seconds 😉

Doesn’t matter if the meal is buffet or plated, if there’s no flavor I don’t like it. Go with what works for you guys!

I prefer buffets because I can select which foods I like and are safe for me to eat (allergy) without wasting food on my plate or being left hungry. However, it’s important to make sure you have enough food and that it’s prepared and put out quickly. At our wedding, it seemed as though they kept the buffet well-stocked, but at a friend’s wedding, we had to stand in the buffet line for ten minutes waiting for them to refill the entree. By then the food already on our plates wasn’t very warm.

I prefer buffets because they have more options and I can choose what I want.

I don’t mind either way but I can say that I never look forward to the food at a sit down dinner, and I’ve never had a sit down dinner at a wedding that has given me cause to do so. With buffets there is at least variety. Most wedding food is forgettable, but a variety of forgettable food is better than one forgettable protein and one forgettable side.

i don’t like them personally but it’s probably not the end of the world. I just prefer to not have to serve myself especially dressed up with high heels on etc. I also just don’t like having to wait for tables to be called – it always seems like they’re herding cattle to the trough.
