I’m looking at our paper options and would really like everything to match. I like this design, but I’m not sure if it looks to casual or not. We are having a formal wedding. Not black tie, but suits and ties and fancy dresses. Is this too casual? I have such a hard time with this stuff!!

That says casual garden/backyard wedding to me

They look very casual. Your invitations usually sets the tone to your wedding, so if you are having a formal wedding I would recommend getting something more formal.

@HisToots: definitely casual, outdoor wedding.

If you really like this style, I think you could use the design, but I would use a calligraphy or cursvie font and be very formal/traditional with the invite wording. That may help dress it up a bit.

Thank you all for your help, I’m so lost. I was thinking it was too casual. I am a really bad judge with this stuff. I don’t want the typical formal invites that I am finding, they are usually too plain, or have one huge element and a tiny space for words. Does this look better, or am I still swinging to the casual range?

@HisToots: second one still says casual to me. I would personally use a white/cream paper and a more elegant floral or flourish (as those are the designs you seem to gravitate towards). The font says a lot too.

Casual for both, it’s the font. The font is too “bubbly”.

The first one looks very informal. The second one looks semi-formal.

@MadTownGirl: Yes, just “fancify” the font a little.
I like the invitation!!!

@HisToots: Both look casual. The first is better than the second one actually. I agree that it may be the font. Also, the quality of paper used and how the invitation is printed will also speak to the formality of the event.

one thing to consider is how you write out your guys names. if i see full names i always assume formal. ours was not so i just used a middle inital for the both of us. also if you include the parents on the invite i think formal too. i did not include my family or his on our invites. so to me with those included there would be no question. also depends on where you live. do you live in a small town. for a city it might be too casual looking. i really like the first one. it does say quaint ,pretty, whimsical like a taylor swift outfit.

I think those would suggest a more casual wedding. Perhaps a fancier cursive font might make them work? I was thinking something along the lines of this: http://believenotes.blogspot.ca/2013/02/delicate-floral-wedding-invitations.html
as inspiration that might suit the look your going for?
