So I have been married for a few months now, and my DH and I sometimes find ourselves bored on the weekends…..
We live in a major city but do not always want to get caught up in the tourist traps (museums, parks, etc)……
What do you and your FI/SO/DH do on the weekends together for fun……

We live in a city, too, and we do lots of things. We usually go for a long run on one of the days, do a lot of walking around and get drinks/some food at new little restaurants we find. We love to visit different wineries and go to wine festivals when the weather is nice! We get together with friends and hang out at each other’s houses, catch up on tv shows/movies we have been wanting to see, go shopping and do errands. We also enjoy going to the local farmer’s markets and orchards to check out the fresh produce, and picking the seasonal fruits in the orchards is fun! check out groupon and living social deals! We go see shows for pretty inexpensive that waY, and are doing one of those “paint nights” at a local bar. We also like to check out the festivals going on around the city.

Run, golf, play tennis, volleyball or soccer, walk around different neighbourhoods and try different coffee shops, restaurants, check out small galleries and gift shops- buy things ahead for gifts we will need throughout the year.
We like to entertain and have friends over- dinner, dessert parties, wine and cheese. The farmers’ markets are great in season, but we also have a winter market and a bakers market year round.
We go on drives out in the valley to wineries, gardens and garden centers.
There are always free events like home shows, garden, travel and adventure etc to check out

I’m not sure I’d call it fun, but we work on the house almost every weekend. If it’s nice out, we’re prepping to paint or painting the siding… replacing rotted wood…etc. If its raining, there’s always something to do inside too… more painting – painting walls, painting cabinets, putting up decor, changing light fixtures and so on and so on. Otherwise we just relax at home. We’re home bodies and find it most relaxing here.

californiabride2013: We go hiking with our dog. We live in a rural area in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. There are lots of county, state, and national parks within an hour drive of where we live. We often spend a few hours hiking.
We also like to fish and hunt together, but those obviously aren’t options for everyone.
We enjoy going to flea markets and antique shops. And garage sales- tis the season!
We’ll make plans to hang with friends during the afternoons and evenings, too. And watch sports (playoff hockey, woo!)

We travel quite a bit or work on our company, FI is a student and also works through the week so when we have a “lazy” day it is usually on a weekday, which also helps us avoid the tourist traps in the city.
This weekend though I just got back from the west coast and Boston is INSANE with Easter and the marathon so we’re hiding out in our apartment!

We do stuff around the house, see friends, have people over, run errands, or just relax and stay in.

DH and I mostly do chores on the weekend, haha.
On an average weekend, we’ll go on a couple long walks, watch TV, and cook together, and that’s about it. Sometimes we make special plans to go out to a museum or public garden, but usually our weekends are busy with chores and errands so we just like to enjoy the moments of down time on the couch together.

If he’s home on the weekend which is veryyy rare, we work on household chores, cleaning, etc then usually go out to eat with one of our parents or run/bike on the trails. We live about 30mins from the city and looove going to the Zoo, breweries/wineries, and things like that but those are usually once or twice a year things. The house def takes up the majority of our free time but we love doing it together. After the Easter fesitivites today we mowed and planted flowers!

My FI works really grueling hours during the week (he has to be at work at 3am and sometimes works his second job through until 8pm) and I just started a second job doing overnight in-home support work, so our weekends are literally our only time to relax and hang out together.
We will run errands (if I can get FI to agree to), but mostly we go have a meal out together and watch Netflix or movies. We just like to hang out together and relax.

Mostly we chill out. We’ll lay in, watch tv then he’ll play xbox while I crack into my school work – this is all when I don’t have weekend work shifts. We’ll tidy up, do laundry, go for a walk or do boxing, etc. Some weekends we take in a mid afternoon movie and have an early dinner somewhere then go for dessert. We love our lazy weekends…

Sometimes we work but most of the time we just do things around the house. We’re still building so there’s always something to do. When the weather is good we like to go for drives or grill out.

californiabride2013: Fiance and I work opposite weekends so during the week we end up doing more together (I’m also part time and he works continental shifts). Sometimes its as simple as sitting on the couch watching marathons of shows that we haven’t watched thats on their 3-4th season to regular house hold stuff such as getting groceries. Today we went for a drive before going to his aunts house for Easter dinner before I head off to work tonight. Sometimes we watch movies or go shopping.

FI works out of town Monday – Friday, so we try to jam as much into out weekends as possible. We are on opposite sides on the country right now, so we’ve actually been alternating our weekends.
On the weekends that we are here Friday night, we eat a quick dinner, then go to the rock climbing gym. After, we typically watch a movie or an episode of a tv series that we are watching together. Saturday we sleep kind of late, eat breakfast, pick up subway for later, then go play outside (Hiking. Kayaking. Geocaching. Rock Climbing. Mountain biking.). We listen to a book-on-tape as we drive (right now Divergent)! We pick up dinner on our way home and watch a movie. Sunday we have a very similar day, but he flies out Sunday around 5, so we have the evenings to work (Me at home, him on the plane). Sometimes we will hang out with BIL and his wife during our adventures.
On the weekends I go there, I roll in super late Friday night and don’t leave until Monday AM. Our plan is pretty much the same, but we stay in hotels and don’t have to drive home, so we spend more time exploring whatever area we are in on the evenings (last weekend Big Sur, next weekend Sonoma). We play outside during the day and lounge in the evenings.

Lately all we seem to do is attend weddings, bachelorette parties, bridal showers, bachelor parties, etc. (haha)
On a typical weekend, we’ll eat out every night, go to the movies, or hang out with our friends (or all of the above!)
