I’m terrible with describing, but does anyone know what you call the thing where there’s lace on the bust of a dress and the frayed fringe bit peeks over the top of the bust line? What kind of lace is it and what do you call that effect?
I hope someone out there knows! lol
EDIT: So now that I know this is called eyelash lace (thanks girls!), what do you all think about it?
I have it placed along the bust-line of my dress and am seriously contemplating taking to it with a pair of scissors to trim it off. Am I crazy? I don’t know if it just looks unfinished or what!

I’ve always heard it called eyelash lace. That could be a slang term though.

@Follydust321: Oooh thank you so much! Lots turned up in Google Images so I can show people what I’m rambling on about now! 🙂

I had a detail on my dress that I just went ahead and chopped off, and my heart raced a little whie i did it as well. I think if you were super careful, you could grab just the frayed part of the lace, but it would be super tedious to ensure that each thread is snipped right at the base, without cutting into the edging, and making it even more frayed.

i tried on a few with this feature. personally i dont care for it, i think it makes for an unfinished look. i have been thinking about it, as one of my top contenders does have it. i think i am probably buy one that does not have it over taking scissors to a gown that costs two thousand dollars.

I’ve been researching lace for a blog post and was told by a lace expert that removing the eyelashes on lace is like taking the bubbles out of champagne. You’ll see the eyelashes individually on some of the higher quality laces.
