I have to say, while I agree with you, I can understand where they come from, especially if they’re first time moms. Hearing the heartbeat, seeing your little one wiggle on the ultrasound, and feeling those first little kicks, that’s a really big deal. I mean, you’re creating human life! The complexity of it is astounding. While “miracle” may not be the right word, it’s still pretty mind boggling. I know every creature reproduces, but it’s still an amazing process.

I think babies are miracles. I am so greatful for every time I feel a movement or hear a heartbeat. I miscarried once, so I know how easily a baby can just be taken away from you.

I think any child God sends into this world is a miracle. It wouldn’t be here unless He wanted it to be. I think a human growing inside someone, which she has no control over HOW it develops and WHEN it develops is a miracle.

GETTING pregnant is not a miracle, but babies themselves certainly are. My daughter is 17 months old and it’s amazing to watch her develop her own little tics and quirks and a real personality. It amazes me on a really basic level sometimes that the only reason she EXISTS is because of her dad and I, yet she’s her own person, walking around the world.

Thanks for saying that Gingersnap. I was being quiet about that part in an effort to not be rude, but you said it perfectly. 🙂

@MrsMckaytoBE: I consider it a miracle when sperm and an egg create a baby. The baby grows inside of the woman and develops all of his/her organs, fingers, toes, eyes, nose and pops out nine months later. The baby is healty and looks like the man you love most in this world. How is that not a miracle? You literally have a tiny human in your stomach.

@MsMamaBear: It’s true. What in the world is more precious than that? How far along are you?

Ok I have a feeling I’m going to get flamed for this but i just feel the need to add my input.

I was 18 when I got pregnant with my son, who is 2 1/2 now. I had been with now FI for over a year and the pregnancy came about 8 months after a very serious battle with depression and a very close call suicide attempt.  I believe whole heartedly that my son is a miracle.  i think that God gave him to me as a reason to keep pushing and to stick it out and overcome my obstacles.  Since I found out I was pregnant I have overcome my depression and made some huge strides in becoming a better person and a productive member of society. He is my everything and I honestly don’t think I would be where I am today if it wasn’t for him.
