I’m about 5’9″, so I generally consider under 5’5″ short or on the short side of average

Ha..I put 5’5″…but I am almost 6′ tall!  But really, I’d say 5’5″ to 5’6″ is average and below that is short.

@abirdword:  go for American Eagle short jeans. I’m 5’2 and they fit almost perfectly. I have a long torso and short legs.

I’m short…I’m only 5’1. I actually have really long legs though, so the only petite pants that fit for me are Gap pants. For Jeans, I do the long and lean since I actually do have much longer legs and a short torso.

@abirdword:  I’m glad you noticed! I wrote it again just in case you missed it! Just a warning though: there was a period of time when AE’s short length jeans were giving me the same issues Gap jeans are giving you now, so make sure you try them on (well obviously!)

I think they saw my review on their website, bitching about “what happened to not having to alter my short jeans?!?!” … which may be why they’re suddenly perfect again XD

I’m 4’11”.  I also get the petite jeans from gap, but they still drag on the ground on me.  There’s no pleasing anyone Wink

For some reason a lot of my girlfriends are about 5’4″.  So I think that’s average.  Actually I just looked it up.  The average American woman’s height is 5’4.6″.

I’m 5′, so even some petite length jeans are long on me.  But I have long legs for my height, so some do fit me.

I’m 4’11”, and I’m SHORT. It’s really annoying to not be able to reach shelves, take pictures of taller people, reach the floor when I sit down, or find pants that fit me (even short or petite lengths!).

I mean, it’s not height, it’s inseam. You must have a longer torso! I know girls who are only 5’5″ and 5’6″ who are ALL leg and need to buy tall.

I think the average American woman is 5’3.5″ or something so I don’t think 5’4″ is short for a woman. I voted for under 5’3″. I’m 5’2″ and I feel like I’m averagely short, meaning obviously I’m a rather short woman but not to the extent that anyone would do a double take. I’ve also known a lot of women in my life who were 5’2″ so it seems like a very normal female height to me. Most petite pants/jeans fit me really well but the occasional brand will be too long.

I have no complaints about being this height; I like being able to fit easily in airplane seats, bleachers, etc. Sometimes I wish my legs were longer but, eh, I have other assets.

    This.

I’m 5’5.75″ and regular is too long, while short is too short.
