I am just curious... I read these boards so much and love hearing about all your great wedding plans and ideas, but I'd love to know what everyone's job/profession is. I guess as a way to make all of you a bit more "real"! :) And I have a feeling there is a huge variety of careers on here, so I'd love to hear about all the interesting things you Bees do!
I am a coordinator working in television production for a large television network.
What do you do?!
I'm an assistant pastry chef. I work for two places at once: a fine dining restaurant (we make all our desserts from scratch) and a market/catering business that we make cookies/muffins/brownies/pies and tons of cakes birthday/babyshower/anniversary/retirement etc.
I knew this would be fun! Those are all amazing jobs! Pastries + kids... the best! :)
I'm an executive assistant and production coordinator for a small television production company!
@hotchocolate: Where do you live? I'm in Vancouver.
I coordinate a mentoring program at a nonprofit school and write grants.
I'm the course manager for a leadership development company. We have both public & private courses that help individuals and teams cultivate their leadership skills, focus in on what they're passionate about, what their goals are, and what they do that gets in their own way of being successful.
"Course Manager" basically= logistics girl-- I coordinate all of the public courses that we run. Prety much from the time a student enrolls I am their point of contact- I send them their pre-course materials, take payments, answer questions, and then from a course admin perspective I also create all the course handouts & materials, order catering, coordinate with the cleaning & groundskeeping staff, shop for supplies, etc. It takes a lot of organization, but luckily I enjoy that and I get to meet a lot of really interesting people.
I'm a graduate student and a part-time lecturer....can't wait to finish my program and get a permanent job.
Freelance theatrical lighting designer, here. Also, master draftswoman. (Alright, maybe not master..)
I am year 1 teacher. At the moment I have twelve lovely 5 and 6 year olds but will be getting 6 more newbies after the Easter holidays.
I'm a behavioral therapist for children with autism. Never a dull moment!
@GreekGirl: Very interesting! I have a severely autistic boy in my class this year who is gorgeous and such a neat kid but I find him so challenging sometimes!
@nzgirl: One of my clients is actually 5 years old and I work with him in his classroom to help him through the day. It's a challenge for him, but I love that age! Does your student have a one-on-one therapist?
business owner of a graphic design & bridal design studio.
It's pretty awesome. <3
@SouthernGirl: I'm a bum too! Didn't you see the part of my job description that said "Freelance". :P
@GreekGirl: He has a part time teacher aide (morning only) who is great but untrained so she is really just there to help guide him to what we are doing. I have a RTLB (resource teacher of learning and behaviour - is that the same as what you do?) assessing him, she comes in around once a month but only watches him and gives me ideas to do with him etc.
Stay at home mom! Oh and I just got ajob working for my FMIL part time as an office administrator of sorts, which is cool because I get to take my son with me :)
I'm a Speech Therapist. I work with severely handicapped preschoolers. I couldn't love my job more!
I'm a nanny to my 2 nieces and 1 nephew. Its a great job. However after the wedding I will be a stay at home wife since FI's work schedule will interfere with me working.
I'm a law student, so a poor kid who works for free. Yay! Haha. Thankfully, FI is working now so he helps me in a pinch, and this will *hopefully* pay off some day. I love it, so it's worth it.
In the summers I'm a waitress/cocktail server. I'd stayed away from it for an entire year, but with the wedding coming up I feel bad not contributing 'real $' (as opposed to my student loan/COL loans) to the bills. So, back to the apron I go.
I’m an auditor for the corporate office of a popular retail chain.
I'm a full time college student/bum as well. Soon to be working so in the process of finding a editing job.
I work for Canada's federal government as a administrative officer in computer operations and network security.
Ugg.. you reminded me.. I'm soon to be night student as well!
I worked at a daycare for 4 years up until August last year.. now I just stay at home and FI works/goes to school... I'm enjoying the extra time with my son I feel like I've missed out on.
I'm in law school too, there seem to be a lot of us! I'm also clerking part time at a plaintiff's firm at the moment, and will do that full time over the summer.
I work at a local magazine as a copy writer. I'm also pursuing a business degree, so my plate is full!
and a part-time lecturer....can't wait to finish my program and get a permanent job.
You and me both! What field are you in?
