I'm just curious what everyone does for a living. I've been feeling lately that I really don't even know what I want to do for a living right now. I was wondering is there are any other bees out there who are getting married but don't have a set career path yet.
I'm starting a new waitressing job next week (hopefully, they're still under construction with no set finish date). And I start hairstyling school this September.
I Co-own a beauty photography business and I am a hair and make up artisit !
I am a pediatric nurse but I am currently abck in school to become a child social worker :)
I'm a consultant. haha. Very vague, but I have a lot of different types of business experience which lends itself to a lot of different types of projects.
That said, FI has ZERO career path right now. He was a cook for 6 years, but recently went back to school and is still figuring out what he wants to do in life. I think it's great that I get to be on this journey of self-exploration with him... and he thinks it's great I make plenty to pay the bills while he figures it out. ;)
I think it's okay that you aren't sure. Better to take some time to figure out what you want, than get boxed into a career path that doesn't make you very happy!
I'm working as a tenant development/PR intern at a company that does historic restorations in my city. :)
I am a public information officer at a college. Finding a career path is one of the hardest things in life! Just make sure whatever you do that you love it or else you will get burnt out. They say the best job is the one you would never consider a J-O-B.
I am a grade 5 teacher. I used to be a registered nurse and hated it.
I'm a high school ESL teacher.. my FI too is trying to figure it out. I think we all have many different paths in life... I might not be a high school teacher for ever.. but I do find it very challenging!!!
In the last year, I have been:
Manager Of admissions
Training specialist
And now: human resources advisor
It's a one year mat leave term, so come march, who knows what i'll be doing!
@jboltz19: Whether or not this is correct, I always think of "Stranger Than Fiction" when I hear "auditor." :)
I run two websites; one is wedding related and one is Victorian related. And I am also starting a wedding planner business and seamstress business.
I'm a web developer (C# programmer). And FI is a COBOL programmer. Yep, we're geeks.
Walgreens Store Manager, and the FI is a Astrophysic's Major at IU while working as a RN.
Deli Clerk. (I keep telling myself its ok because I'm a student.) Half way through a bachlors in Communications. Hope to be in nonprofit events.
I'm a psychiatric nurse. It's fun some days. I have a bruised jaw today.
Currently, I'm a grad student. :) I will be a speech-language pathologist in a little over a year. The field is so broad though, and I have no idea which direction I'm going to go in. Some days I think I would be happy working in a school, other days I think I would rather work in a hospital. I guess it depends on how my two internships go and what opportunities come up. I'm super lucky and super thankful though that I am pretty much guaranteed a job. The positives of getting into a high demand healthcare related field!
I am a scientist for the DOD. I also run my own photography buisness. :) (like everyone else ;))
@helenberrycrunch: yikes. I have alot of respect for someone in your field.
I am a Jr High school french Immersion teacher, and have a small photography business
im a finance manager (yes im an accountant) for a global company, last years turnover was three billion so its hectic but i love it
I work in Admissions and Records at a community college and I'm also a full time student!
I am a nanny to three boys under five and a full time student (studying English Education).
I'm an Associate Trainer at Panera Bread, hoping to be promoted this week! Fingers crossed.
I'll be going back to school within the next two years and I'm thinking of becoming a paralegal.
I have a bachelor's in nursing and have my RN license, but I sell full-time on eBay. The job market for new grad RNs in Boston is pretty tough, and we're moving to Florida in September so I've stopped looking for now. I've been selling on eBay since I was a sophomore in HS, but ramped it up to full-time once I graduated last year. I love what I do and the flexibility that comes with it :)
So many interesting jobs! I'm a social worker...I work in a residential facility with teenagers who have psychiatric illness...I do therapy with the kids and a whole lot of extra other stuff. :-)
I'm an account executive for a Destination Management company based in Napa Valley. I arrange programs for people traveling to the Napa Valley (and now all of California) for groups that are 10 or less. So mostly couples and small groups of couples.
I love it! It gets stressful as we get closer to the busy time of year, but no day is the same.
I also manage all of the social media for the company.
