This is probably a weird question, but I’m sure there are others with the same problem.
I have the most awkward arms and hands ever. I have no idea how to hold my arms or what to do with my hands. Its just a mess. When I’m just walking about day to day, I always carry my arms up (I’ve been told I have t-rex arms.) And in pictures I never know what to do with them, so I always end up just standing there awkardly with my arms dangling. And I’m always fiddling my hands.
When we got our engagement pictures done the photographer kept having to tell me where to put my hands and what to do, because I just stood there all dangly. I just looked through all my pictures on FB that people have taken of me, and they’re all either dangly, fiddly, t-rex, or clenched in front of me.
Tell me I’m not the only one with ridiculous arms?

Lol nope. I kept putting my hands on my waist, and had to be told multiple times to “relax” and “act naturally”…um, yeah, I WAS!!! I also can’t smile normally, so at least you can do that!

I put one arm on my hip. It makes you look slimmer and more natural, kind of.

@allyfally: Hmmm … I didn’t really notice T-rex, dangly, or fiddly.
What I did notice was: Beautiful woman in an amazingly beautiful dress! And beautiful woman in love. Your smile in that engagement picture is radiant, and you and your FI are both incredibly photogenic!!

@peachacid: Haha, I look even more ridiculous with my hands on my hips! It just looks so unnatural when I do it. And omg, its nice to hear that about the smile! My mouth was actually shaking in that last picture because of how long I had been forcing myself to smile, it actually hurt!

@cls9q: You look great!
I think I look pretty silly with the hand on the hip.
@longtimemrs: Aww, thanks so much!

I never know what to do with my hands or arms either. I feel comfortable crossing my arms, but I try not to do that because it apparently looks unfriendly. I do the fiddle fingers too. I like having something to hold or to hook my thumb on my pants pocket. I’ll have to try the hand on my hip idea.

Have to follow this… I have the same issue!

As photographers will generally tell you – you can bend it, bend it (that goes for arms, waist, legs and fingers), and try to do it in a relaxed way (no stiffness/claws). That is the best way to get a flattering look. Holding the arm bent slightly away from the body minimises the biceps and gives you a softer, more feminine look. If you are feeling stiff, try shaking it out and try it again. Often it can help to practice in front of a mirror. Eg.
Also, props are good. Delicately hold a dress, use a bouquet, put a hand on your bag, whatever. Props give you something to do with your arms and will also put you more at ease.

@pengoala: lol, I dont even have to be running! I just always walk around with them pulled up. My brother does it too, even worse than me, so maybe its genetic?
@asbtoabs: Oh, I cross my arms a lot as well. People always think I’m either mad or cold, but I’m not. So I always try to not cross my arms.
@Penang1885: I’ll try that! When we did our e-pics the photographer did tell us to “shake it out.” She even had us hold hands and spin around to loosen us up. Haha.
