I either eat oatmeal with fruit or honey/ 2% Greek yogurt with fruit or honey/ eggs with whole wheat toast and an apple
Greek yogurt is much more filling than regular yogurt because it has more protein.
I usually eat food :]
j/k. Usually it's granola and yogurt. I get maple nut granola in bulk from a local place and mix it with vanilla greek yogurt. Combining them helps because I don't like either separately. Sometimes I add fruit. Sometimes not. I'm not a big breakfast eater, so the granola helps keep something in my stomach for longer. It's easy to take along for when I'm in the mood for something to eat. Quaker has these oatmeal square things, that are pretty good for on the go as well. I usually have some in my car for on the go snacks or when I forget to eat.
Costco has these apple muffins that are to die for. The caramel sauce on top is just YUM! But, since I'm on a perpetual diet, I can't eat those.
I second the greeg yogurt. I mix it with a tablespoon of jam and throw some bran flakes in it, I even take it in a bowl in the car sometimes.
Cereal! I just have to watch my carbs the rest of the day, lol. I like to mix two cereals together. Today I had Shredded Wheat and Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds. I love cereal.
Instant Oatmeal might be your best bet then. You can keep a box at your desk and microwve at the office.
Maybe a piece of fruit like a banana or apple that can keep at your desk.
I'm big on making sure I eat breakfast because I know it's good for you so I tend to make myself one egg over easy with another egg white. But that's right now before the wedding while I'm cutting down carbs. Normally I'll have a bowl of cereal.
I've never had greek yogurt before.. I've actually only started eating regular yogurt recently. Does it taste really different??
I dont, and I know I should. I work 7:15 to 1pm and I never eat breakfast. By the time I get home I always get something fast like a hot dog or chicken nuggets, So I guess thasts my technical breakfast. Man I should really eat more healthy lol
I make whole wheat banana waffles and I freeze them so I pop those in the toaster in the morning and put strawberries on them with a little bit of powedered sugar so good! and I have fresh fruit smoothies alot.
I either have eggs and toast with sauteed spinach (if I have time in the morning), or I have a Greek yogurt (or Skyr, which is pretty much the same thing but Icelandic instead of Greek) or a bowl of old fashioned oatmeal with a sprinkle of cinnamon and almonds. I'm pretty boring.
I'm also trying to reduce portions and having a decent breakfast does seem to help when it comes to lunchtime. After dinner is my diet killer...sigh.
hardboiled eggs....done the night before....so I just grab them out of the fridge and go!
I have tea for breakfast. Sometimes coffee.
Real food doesn't happen until about 11am, and then it's usually a whole grain & fruit muffin (homemade, yum), toast or eggs.
A cup of cereal with skim milk. Lately I have been throwing some blueberries in too.
I love breakfast :)
Egg whites usually b/c I'm watching my carbs right now. otherwise, fiber one or kashi go lean cereal.
I either have a bowl of cereal or a piece of toast/english muffin with peanut butter. The protein in the morning helps me a lot. Other times I might have a banana with PB.
Thanks everyone, you are giving me some good ideas! Time to stock up on oatmeal and maybe give greek yogurt a try. :D
Greek yogurt with honey, or a peanut butter/nutella/banana shake. Struggling with finding breakfast options I like that I also have time for!
During the week it's either greek yogurt with fruit and granola or a Peanut Butter and banana on whole wheat. It needs to be quick and protein. Cereal doesn't do it for me anymore nor do FI's Eggos, I find my self starving by 10am if I do either of those.
I'm not a big breakfast person either, but I've been hungry every morning lately. I've been going for eggs and a some home fries. Waffles here and there too.
On weekdays I eat one of the following (I have to switch it up or I get bored):
A fried eggs on a piece of toast, two slices of turkey bacon and a smoothie with one banana, 5 ice cubes, 1 cup of milk and some chocolate syrup. I eat the same thing every single day!
Wheaties and strawberries or blueberries, and lowfat milk. I'm a creature of habit. We also need a toaster.
An over easy egg on top of a cup of brown rice with olive oil, a tiny bit of cheese and sea salt. It sounds bizarre but it is so delicious I can't help myself.
Ok, I will start by admitting I'm lazy...especially in the morning. And I'm usually rushed. So while I'd love something like an egg-white omelet with a piece of toast and maybe some strawberries, it's just not going to happen during the week.
I used to eat a Jimmy Dean D-Light Turkey Sausage Muffin (260 cal, 8g fat), but I was often hungry way before lunch. I still eat them occasionaly though, when I really want a Sausage McMuffin.
Lately, I've been drinking a low-carb Slim-Fast. They have 20g of protein and 4 g fiber and keep me from getting hungry before lunch...AND I can drink it in the car on the way to work!
Fruit smoothie, just whip it up while my coffee is brewing right before I run out the door. I normally drink it on my drive to work. Or greek yogurt and a piece of fruit.
@KristenGotMarried: That actually sounds delicious. Going to try it tomorrow... :)
Another thing I try and do, besides eating breakfast, is eating a snack at 10:30. I eat about 5-6x a day. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, and that's it or sometimes something small and sweet.
I have an instant oatmeal with half a teaspoon of peanut butter every morning- I keep the packages at work and make it when I get in (8:30am). Sounds easy and healthy right? Well, it is but I'm a secret bad breakfast eater too - every morning I have a S'mores pop tart on my way to the train (7am). So delicious but sooooo bad.
I am a total breakfast person - I wake up famished every morning so breakfast is a necessity.
I usually keep cereal (puffins, kashi heart to heart or shredded wheat, sometimes less sweet brands of granola) in the cupboard at work and veggie sausage in the freezer.
If you like having muffins, and they're convenient for you, you can try making them yourself (or some sort of breakfast cereal/granola bar). Muffins are one of those things that can be full of sugar and fat, but you can also make them yourself with whole grains, less sugar, and even stuffed full of fruit and nuts. You can make a bunch at once and freeze and unfreeze them in batches.
COCOPOPS!! Or as they are known here Chocolate Rice Krispies. YUM!
n OJ.
Im up and at em with my FI at 7am every week day so gotta have something. Although I don't think that combination is really the most nurtitious. I just love that chocolate fix in the morning. Despite it being daft expensive for a box.
I have gotten in the habit of having a few tablespoons of low fat cottage cheese with a low fat fruit yogurt...I hate the taste of cottage cheese by itself, but love the texture it brings to the yogurt!
I also stash fruit, instant oatmeal, and other healthy snacks in my draw at work, and in my locker at school. I try and eat small meals ever few hours to keep my metabolism going, and make sure that after billing every 2-3 patients (40-60min) that I finsh my glass of water, and fill it right back up again!
I've been doing eggs and veggies RELIGIOUSLY for the past year +.
Eggs are AWESOME - IMO - because they are packed with protein and have enough fat for satiety.
I did 1 egg + eggs whites for a while, then upped it to 2 whole eggs (when i did more research and learned the yolks are actually good for you)!
I usually saute some onions, throw in whatever veggies I want and then scramble up 2 eggs, add some no-salt seasonings and make a scramble. Totally delish!
a vita muffin or fruit...on evil PMS days i won't hesitate to go for the cap'n crunch though...
Monday & Fridays are cereal (usually corn flakes, raisin bran, special K, etc) days because we're usually lazier on those days. Usually supplement with a yogurt.
Tuesday & Thursdays are egg days. Often homemade egg mcmuffin sandwiches, egg burritos, scrambled eggs with turkey bacon, etc.
Wednesday is oatmeal day, not instant, rolled oats with blueberries and dried cranberries as of late.
But I alwayws have a snack around 10am. Hehe. usually a fruit or rice crackers or some baby carrots, etc
two cinnamon toast eggo waffles straight out of the toaster, I wrap em up in a paper towel and eat them on the way to work. I try to keep some greek yogurt in the fridge for a mid-morning snack, but my stomach is super sensitive in the morning and the waffles are one of the only things I can eat.
That, or a bowl of instant grits with a little bit of gouda cheese melted in, mmmm (only when I'm not running late, which is almost never!)
I usually toast a cinnamon & raisin bagel and put butter or cream cheese on it and I'll have some orange juice or cranberry juice. If I'm running later than usual I'll grab a nature valley granola bar.. they are so good

I'm not really much of a breakfast person, but lately I've been finding myself getting hungry around 10:30 -11 (now!!) and I always go straight for a muffin. I'm trying to watch what I eat, so muffins probably aren't the best choice.
Oh and I am also rushing out the door for work in the morning so I don't really have the time to make myself egg whites or anything healthy like that. I'm never hungry at 7 anyways, it usually doesn't hit me til around this time.
Sometimes I'll have a yogurt, but that just doesn't quite fill me up the way a fatty-fat muffin does. :D
