Lately I have been meeting my personal trainer at 7pm for an hour long session.
I wake up at around 630 am and munch on breakfast until about 8-9am, I have lunch at 12pm and have a snack at around 4pm. I head to the gym at 7pm without eating dinner and by the time im done with the gym at 8pm im famished. I know you are not supposed to eat late but when is the right time for dinner if im working out so late?
I go to bed anywhere from 10-11pm.
Ive been stopping by subway after the gym and grab a wheat 6 inch turkey melt or a Garden cheese and brocolli soup. Im a little concerned im defeating the purpose of working out.
Also, I am happy with my weight and my BMI is “average” so I basically want to maintain/tone up although shedding 5 pounds would be nice.

Its not the late hour for the most part (since you are up a few more hours) but the sum total of what you eat during the day that will make the most difference. Try having a little heavier snack at 4 or 5, something with a healthy fat and protein. Then eat dinner when you get home.
EDIT I dont eat until 730/8 after I work out (cross fit from 530-630, plus driving and cooking time). IE last night I had shredded chicken on a large salad with a bit of blue cheese dressing mixed with red hot. I go to bed at 10. Focus on the quality of your meals.

Lots of water and a huge salad.

I used to have a similar schedule. Can you try making some healthy dinners ahead of time so you don’t have to stop at Subway? I think eating another snack before the gym…maybe an apple and some peanut butter (or anything with a little protein and carbs) around 6:00 will help too. What also worked for me was having healthy dinners ready for me to grab at home. I would either cook a bunch extra on the weekends and freeze it, or just have really simple meals that were healthy.
