An old college friend sent this to my fiance:
“I was just chatting with *, and he mentioned your wedding is next month. I haven’t received an invitation. Am I not invited? If not, I understand; weddings are expensive and there’s not always room for everyone, but I’d very much like to be there.”
We’re friendly on Facebook, but not very close, and I am floored that he would even ask. I feel like if we say no, he’ll have a chip on his shoulder, but I also don’t really care because I want our wedding to have close friends only. Geeze, some people have no tact.

@vanessa7: Sorry, we would love to invite everyone but we simply don’t have the space/money.
I find that in general, men are much more tactless about these things than women.

@vanessa7: I dont think he meant anything by it, but was just curious. I mean, if he didnt even know you were getting married next month, he’s probably not that close a friend.
I would let it go. He asked your FI, so just have him say “yeah, we’re having a really small wedding” and leave it at that.

Guys are dumb. Having FI respond that you are having a small wedding and leave it at that.

I wouldn’t have invited myself but at least he was friendly when doing it. I’ve heard of worse situations on this type of thing!
