Wow! So far so good! I think you are one of few. Most people I know could not sew anything,  let alone a wedding dress! ( You said so far, so what is left? )

@elsa_marita:  I wish I could! It looks great so far! I cannot sew anything haha so the fact you are creating your wedding dress is pretty amazing!

My sewing skills are not quite up to a wedding dress, but your’s looks really good so far. Creiddylad is sewing her own dress too.

I was seriously considering knitting my wedding dress – there were a couple of patterns I saw that I could adapt – but ultimately I decided not to.

My aunt made my cousin’s dress, the bridesmaid dresses and the flower girl/junior bridesmaid dresses.  Yours looks amazing.  Jealous!

@elsa_marita:  Amazing job! I considered doing this too, but then I found a dress that I absolutely loved and it was beyond my skill level. Yours looks great!

@elsa_marita:  Oooh, that looks beautiful! As @Eckle:  mentioned, I’m making my own dress too! It’s still in the design stages because our wedding is a year and 5 months away, but I’m sure I’ll be sewing my own– I’ve always wanted to and I’m a pretty advanced seamstress so there was no question!

I think it is rare. There aren’t many of us who have the skills to make a fancy dress anymore.

In your fabric shopping, have you happened to come across lace fabric that isn’t all synthetic? I’m on a search for natural fiber lace fabric for mine and it’s hard to find.

Has your FI seen the dress? I’m not sure what I’m going to do about that problem since my FI and I have a very small house and he works from home, so there is a large possibility of him seeing it.

Have fun! I’m curious to see your dress when it’s finished!

If I was that talented then I totally would make my own dress. OP, your dress is so cool. Well done.

Absolutely amazing!  Wish I had your skills!  Making your own wedding dress just brings it to a whole other level!  Can’t wait to see it all done!  I am also curious, how do you keep you FI from seeing it?

@elsa_marita:  I think that is incredible! When people sew their own it reminds me of the one girl from One Tree Hill 🙂

I think her name was Brooke….
