What a beautiful color. I really love the low square glass vase with the turquoise water and floating orchids. Maybe add some tea light candles around it and you have yourself a easy but beautiful centerpiece. Good Luck with your choice.
Thank you all for your input, and the poll is even more telling!
Im still undecided, but leaning towards the cut flowers and vases. I never thought I would, as I was ALWAYS completely sold on the potted plants, but the cut flowers are so so pretty, way cost effective, and really evoke a tahitian feel, which is exactly what we are shooting for.
We DEFINITELY won't eliminate potted plants from our decor, and potted orchids would be beautiful gracing other places like our ceremony site, our "lounge areas" under our reception tent, around the dance floor, on the guest book & buffet tables, etc. I think it will all be very lovely!
Is it going to be a beach wedding or an indoor wedding because that can make a difference in terms of how you want to do your centerpieces?

We're going with a sort of tropical spa inspired feel.
My centerpiece idea was to have 4 potted phalaenopsis orchids on each table to serve as centerpiece and favor. I have been around and around on the kind of orchid, but phals are hardy, easy to come by, and very pretty.
In fact...
Phalaenopsis are beautiful, beautiful flowers. Their simple grace and elegance are unmatched. I love love love them.
However. I'm a little unsure about how so many of them will look, gracing the tables in the reception. I feel like when you get a lot of them together, they tend to look stick-ish. Like a room full of sticks (sticks with pretty flowers on the end).
As I go through my inspiration photos, though, and continue to collect more, I am beginning to notice a trend.
The turn my decor plans have taken recently are very reminiscent of a tropical spa. A retreat if you will, and I think that the orchids, water, turquoise color, and all of its simplicity really evoke that feel.
I think it will go really well with some of the other decor ideas I've got milling around in my head...
I love the idea of a combination of vases (cylinder, low bowls, and low cylinders) with a variety of orchids and candles gracing them, with both clear and turqoise colored water.
I'm loving it.
(And on a positive note, even with buying multiple vases, candles, and cut orchids, we will probably save money versus our original idea of featuring 4 potted phals on each table to serve as favors...)
