I have two dresses (ack!) and I plan on selling them both for 1. the money and 2. for another bride to enjoy. I'm only keeping my veil, garter, shoes and jewelry for sentimental value.
I would've just donated it, but my mom really wanted to have it preserved "for (my) future daughters." So I let her. :)
My mom has always just kept hers in the closet so that's what I plan to do. Many days were spent playing dress up in it! And hers stayed perfectly with no "preserving." Hopefully mine will too!
I'm wearing a blue dress and I plan to wear it again. That was a big part of why I wanted a colored dress. I may have it shortened though.
My mom actually used a piece of her gown to make a Christening gown for me and my siblings. I had my gown cleaned and preserved in case I decide to do the same thing some day.
certainly trash the dress...but not really.
I am considering selling it and giving the money to my cousin for her wedding dress (she has no idea I'd do this but I want her to have a wonderful dress...she and her mom aren't really nice about my wedding, but I am not playing the same game). if I don't give her the gift of helping with her dress (of which I would only help with dress, not give her cash because I think if she bought less stuff she could afford her own dress) then I will gift it to someone else.
I might want to take some pictures in it after the wedding (without actually "trashing" it), but I'm definitely selling it afterwards. I don't need a dress that expensive sitting around! And I know some women like to save their wedding dresses for their daughters, but I doubt most daughters are interested in wearing them. ;) That's a lot of pressure.
I don't want to spend my wedding reception obsessively worrying about my dress, so while I'm not going to purposely trash it, it's okay if it ends up that way (e.g. if it gets wine spilled on it or it gets muddy while we are taking pictures).
Provided it stays in good condition, I'm going to sell it. I'm a large plus-size, and I know how hard it is to find beautiful dresses in higher sizes, so aside from regaining some of the money I spent, I feel like it will help out another bride.
My Friend suggested that I make baby bedding out of it and I love that idea
So cute of an idea
I haven't decided yet. The sentimental part of me wants to keep it, but the logical part of me says sell it. I've got 3 months to decide. Right now I'm leaning toward keeping it.
I probably should try to sell the hideous thing, but I am sorely tempted to make a lovely bonfire with it!
@Bumby: Aww that's so beautiful & sweet!
I'd seriously consider doing that (saving it & using a piece for my children's baptism outfits), but we'll see when I get closer to finding "the dress". Depending on the cost I may try to sell it. Depending on the stress I may trash it. lol
I'm going to put it up for sale for about a month then if no takers I will donate it to a charity. Nah I'll probaby just donate it. My also convincing my bridesmaids to donate their dresses. Oh and to top it off I'm cutting my hair afterwards and donating it to looks of love. Giving is good.
My MOH is a pro photographer, so we're going to do a second shoot. We won't trash the dress - I'd like to donate it.
