We are planning to buy a new bed after the wedding and been researching on a reliable bed.  I like my bed soft (pillowtop) and he prefers his firm.  We looked into sleep comfort number beds and were interested until I google for complaints and there is a long list to read so we've became weary about sleep comfort.

my question to the hive is...what bed do you sleep on and would you recommend it?  also, where should i go to get a bed without being scammed?  i got scammed at sleepys back in college and will NEVER trust them again.

We have a pocketcoil mattress with a memory foam pillow top, and it is like sleeping on a cloud. I would definitely recommend it.

If you're worried about getting scammed, you could go through a big chain store like Sears perhaps?

We got ours at Sleep Country in Canada.

    Tempurpedic ALL the way.

They are expensive... in Canada a king size costs about $4000.  We got ours on a crazy sale for 50% off.  Best bed I have ever slept on.  No pressure points.

    Highly recommend it!

my FI is a warm sleeper, and i read that memory foam tends to retain heat and moisture.  i'm conflicted.

also, i read all the other postings.. I'm not a big fan of Temurpedic mattresses or memory foam because of what they are made of.  It's made from petro-chemicals which off-gases and definitly not good.  I know some people like the feel of memory foam b/c it contours to your body.  You spend at least 8 hours of your day laying on the mattress so its a good idea to find a mattress that suits your needs and health.  The best alternative to the memory foam is "all natural latex" and these are mattresses that we also carry. I know I'm plugging in ads for my company but I highly recommend natural mattresses over conventional mattresses.  Do a lot of research before you make your purchase and find out the benefits of each one. Good Luck!

I have back problems, so my parents are getting us a Select Comfort Sleep Number for our wedding present. This is good b/c I need a firm bed, and my FI likes soft, so we'll get to choose our own sides!

I had a Select Comfort Cali King bed for a year before I moved to my TINY apartment...(another thread).  Anyway, it was really comfortable!  I read all the complaints about them, but I think a lot of those complaints are about older models.  We had a pillow top on ours and I never slept better than on that mattress.  In comparison, now we have a spring mattress with a pillow top, but sometimes I wake up and my leg has fallen asleep.  I want my Select Comfort back!

We got a bob o pedic...a temperpedic but a fraction of the price with the same warranty and a thicker memory foam.  We're side and tummy sleepers and got the firm...bad move.  If you go this route and sleep on your side or tummy too go soft.  If your hubby wants the firm you can do a half and half option.  We paid $1500 for a queen with a split box spring and delivery.

I slept on a simmons beautyrest at a hotel last week when I was traveling for work...insanely comfortable...in fact I heard 3 others talking about how well they slept!

Oh and I know the type of bed because I ripped off the sheets the last night to find out :)
