@Hippos:  I still found “What to Expect” helpful. Also, “The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy” is good, and made me feel less crazy. :). Congrats!

Your Pregnancy Week by Week by Glade Curtis et al.

I think this is better than “What to Expect…” because it explains everything in weekly detail (which is how most, if not all, OBs treat pregnancies) as opposed to months.

For a FUN (not for any medical advice) read… The Girlfriend’s Guide to Pregnancy by Vickie Iovine is so funny! She writes like girlfriends talk to each other. She has a whole series through childhood. I adore them… and gift them when I know someone who is expecting.

Best Wishes for a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery!

Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy.. another humorous (and quick) read. She also has Baby Laughs, which I’ve yet to read but I should since I have a baby now and I’m sure it’s just as funny as the other one.

I only read one book during my pregnancy, and that was Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth. I definitely recommend it but it’s not super relevant in your first trimester. I read it while I was on vacation about two months before I was due.
